Morning all! Stuck at home today, ds is still sick and now dd3 is poorly, dd2 sent her back to bed this morning cos apparently she'd been up a lot in the night - I didn't notice
but in my defence I didn't get in from work till very late!
No idea what to do for dinner tonight, kitchen is soooooo cold, still waiting for window to go back in, frame is now all in one piece and should have "gone off" apparently! Anyway its like the arctic in there at the mo, found dd2 warming herself by the open fridge this morning! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Think it'll have to be pasta and some kind of sauce from the freezer, can bung it all in the oven and don't have to stand out there getting cold! Have some extra bread leftover, so will be garlic and cheese bread to go with it I think, that can go in the oven and if I cheat and sprinkle garlic powder on the butter it won't take long either!
Got to finish Christmas stuff for mil and bil and his wife as we are visiting them this weekend, going to have a big dinner on Saturday night, hopefully the sick ones will be able to eat by then  MIL will be getting a DAB radio for her bedroom I think from us and a box of smellies from the kids, best go and hunt in my boots treasure chest, oh how I love it, so much for so littleNeed to find a box to put it all in and make it look pretty, will bring one back from work tonight I think, then get shredding tissue paper and arranging tomorrow. BIL and his wife are getting a light sconce (sp?) that was reduced to £5 from some silly amount, it has candles in little conical holders, really nice for their house, it's really old and it'll look nice hung outside where they eat in the summer or in the conservatory bit. Also got a herb set for them from Boots sales last year, bargain at £1.50, and they'll be getting some of the Asda wine bargains! All cheap and cheery, but still nice, I think
Still need to think of something for oh for Christmas, no idea what to get him! Any suggestions? Don't think he wants a waffle maker or dehydrator though
Best go fill breadmaker and washing machine now, fun! Oh did anyone see the sunrise this morning, it was gorgeous, huge orange fiery sun - was walking the dog and it was rising over Glastonbury Tor, looked fantastic.

hon, it may not be you. It may be that your version of Internet Explorer doesn't work that way! not all of them do.
I think your best bet is to try the no 2 way. In fact, if you hit the quote button (like you do normally) and look at what comes up when you do in the message box, you'll see something likesarah1975uk wrote: »(without the spaces). What this means is: " i want to open a quote box, with the person doing the quote being sarah1975uk, and her ID number is 7190841 (or some internal number, not exactly sure what that is). however, it will work with just the name, or any name, as i said on my posting last night, you don't have to have the number. when you type the [/ quote] (again, without spaces) it tells it you want to close the quote box.
good luck with it hon!

Ooh Lesley, you are a worse temptress than Dee! She positively flaunted her snowman tin! But to go down the whole sugar and lemon route.. shocking! I will NOT ask for my lift home to stop at Lidl on Monday, no I won't.. even though DD2 loves waffles..or could it be a Christmas pressie for me...hmmm...
what me??
I would never ever ever ever do a thing like that
Well another beautiful morning in Lancashire but its a bit parky here too.Mummysaver your post had me howling with laughter when I read it.Your poor kids deserve some heat get the window in!.How do you manage to get your bread to rise successfully when the room is so cold?
Well I was planning a day of wanton baking but I've just realised I am short of sugar so will have to stop at some rainbow buns (which the kids love thanks for the tip Dee)and possibly a choccy cake.Plus some bread.I still have some doughnut dough left in the fridge so will cook that off later.Making Quiche and Baked potatoes for tea so a nice easy hassle free teatime. Also got to start wrapping the presents otherwise I'll still be wrapping them when the kids get up on Christmas morning.Thankfully I only have about 7/8 Christmas cards still to make and then I can post them off and take a long lie down

how do i quote more than one person when i reply to a post??:rotfl:
this might help if you cant get it to work Keth's way.
I hit the quote button for the first person, cut and paste that into a word document, go back to the thread and do a quote for the second person.
when that comes up you can copy and paste the first 'quote' bit into your reply
sorry if thats as clear as mud :rotfl:... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

We are quiet atm... all busy getting ready for christmas? I am suffering with back pain and am like an old lady today... everything is being done s l o w l y ... Made up a new batch of cleaners and deodrant yesterday and started thinking about soaps and moisterisers.... anyone made those? I did make soap a few years ago but the recipe I had was a bit long-winded... managed to find a few more recipes on the internet last night (and a load of books to order from the library lol!)... tis in the spirit of this thread as I was using storecupboard items yesterday lol!!0 -
I've been wrapping faster than a flamin' elf all morning :snow_grin
Just realised I only have 2 kid free days with nothing on until 'the big day' and I really don't want to be wrapping xmas eve like I always seem to do
Have had a really good clean around everywhere as well in preparation for not being able to do anything while DS3 is home being a pickle over xmas...I even resorted all my stores which is still a mammoth task even though I've hugely dented them
I've redone my Tescos order about 5 times so far...they'll love me :snow_laug but discovered a few more treasures I forgot I bought under the stairs it was in such a mess!!
Xmas shop currently stands at £162 but theres about £19 to come off with bogofs and a code for moneyoff which I can't for the life of me remember how much it was for :rotfl: it'll be a nice surprise
Nearly finished the xmas cakes will post a pic when finally done..I have been known to still be icing in January before now!!!
Off to hoover the lounge now before parents arrive..theres glitter everywhere off DS3's card he made at school bless :A
See you all later happy cooking!!:santa2:

Yategirl - i hope your back gets better soon, do look after it, there's nothing worse than being laid up over christmas with something. Not quite the same but i had a really bad dose of flu (the real thing, not a bad cold) a couple of christmasses ago: i came down for xmas lunch, went back to bed, and that was it .. i woke up 3 days later having been informed that i had a raging temperature (they were close to calling the doctors - in fact, mom did call her cousin, a nurse, to ask her advice) and had been to-ing and fro-ing from the loo to bed, waking up every so often for water and temperature taking.. i think i opened my presents 4-5 days after christmas or something. LOL.
as for what i'm up to, well, preparing for christmas yes, but not with food. I'm busy working on the family history, writing a sort of booklet with tons of info in about my gran's family, and it all takes time. I spent yesterday making a nice family tree of one side of the family on a couple sheets of A4 on the computer. I'm constantly cross-referencing and checking and its absolutely mentally exhausting. So until that gets done (it has to be done by Tuesday so i can get to the library to print it out and stick it in the post), nothing else is being done either! (haven't even chucked me tree up yet.. although the cards have gone.. last ones this morning!)

Well done Dee for pressie wrapping
I am struggling to find when we are going to wrap ours (yes I am roping dh into the chore!) ds1 isn't falling asleep till gone 9pm and we are too tired by then to even consider wrapping gifts....
Family Tree sounds great Kethry! I hope you are printing a copy out for yourself?
My cards are ready to post today - at long last (and I made them!!) Our tree is up.... but ds2 brought it down yesterday evening... it doesn't look as good now!!

Eventually.. yes. I'll be emailing a copy to Mom (before christmas) who will print out a copy for me at work, Gran and Great Aunt's copies (they're sisters so its the same info for both) will be printed out next week, Great Aunt's stuck in the post (that's the reason for the rush). Other people will get emailed copies, the ones who are interested, but i'll make sure that they get theirs *after* christmas!! Its going to be quite long so i can really only afford to print out the 2 copies that i need to. Its on 24 pages now and i'm only halfway through it, if that, and i still need to stick photos in.. argh!
shut up, keth, and GET ON WITH IT!!
