I assume you can make potato waffles in these too? I liked the birds eye waffles but wont buy them on principle; think how much nicer home made ones would be........ I'm watching for recipes too...

I feel a trip to lidl coming on :)

Have you all looked on freecycle before you go out and get these things or post a request on there?
I got my breadmaker from freecycle because I didn't want to spend any money on something which could turn into a fad.
Now I've found you lot though I am using it regularly.
The kids are enjoying it as is DH- he even made sultana bread on Saturday because I promised the kids he would!
I'm not going to buy any gadgets or anything until I have managed to sort out my cupboards. I need to have a really good dig out and get rid of all the tubs with no lids etc. It shouldn't take me too long if I do 1 or 2 cupboards per day.
We're going to have to switch to filter coffee too as we are running low on instant and we have loads of filter coffee. I'm sure it's cheaper anyway!
Lovely chicken pie for tea tonight. Had a disaster with the chicken soup- I put it into my blender and it flooded the kitchen- I'd overfilled it. I really do miss my cheap stick one that I used so much it fell apart!
Hope everyone well. Those who need hugs here you are ((((())))).

    rosieben what a wonderful idea.

My kids love potato waffles, but i rarely buy them. i love them cooked , with a slice of cheese on then put under grill until cheese starts to fall throught the sqaures. ooohhh i could just eat them now with some brown sauce.

jackie_w i sort of also got a complaint from hubby aswell. he don't have a prob with me buying these items or him buying them for me. but he told me to tidy up my cupboards so the stuff don't fall out and hit him. He said i bought u a new kitchen with loads of space and u filled it up.

I kinda told him what i meant to do.

Thats like him buying a scooby filling it with petrol and not using it. No point having it.

i just let hubby get on with his little moan , then wow him with wonderful home cooked delighs . he soon stops minding. lol

Yategirl my tip for making waffles that dont stick to the waffle irons is to have a pastry brush with oil on and to oil the plates lightly before each use.I've always done this and they come out easy

As for the dehydrator mine has arrived too but darent open it until the big day or I know I'll be using it lol

Wafflemakers I suppose could make potato waffles but I've never used mine for them.I've always used them for sweet ones

Stop posting gadgets, I've got a smaller kitchen :( Oh I love sweet waffles, but :confused:I won't have space for one, oh bother, I know I'm going to have to choose which gadget I want the most, then sulk and wish I'd bought the other  If you can make potato waffles with the waffle makers that might win....

Right, moan time, DP getting on my nerves, got out a chicken and asparagus bake out of the freezer for dinner he said 'I'm not eating that' 'I don't like chicken pie' So I got slightly annoyed, told him it's not a pie it's a puff pastry bake and that if he doesn't want it he can have beans on flaming toast!

Ok rant over, still doing very well, I had to go into Tesco to order some photos, spent nothing else, walked around the coop before I collected DS2, spent nothing...starting to scare myself, I even walked past yellow stickered stuff...:confused:wondering when the real me will emerge.

I am considering buying some extra milk and freezing it, just incase these petrol protests get out of hand again, we couldn't get milk last time. Will see how it goes first I think..

Had a good offer today, if I can brave Xmas shopping in store as my Mam is staying at some point over Xmas, she'll take me shopping and I'll be able to get 15% off where she works. It's not where I was going to shop, but 15% off, I think I will put orders through on Tesco and there and see what the price difference is....no point getting 15% off if what I want is 20% more so going to be sensible, right, think I will do that now, see what it works out at.

Hope everyone else has had a good day
One day I might be more organised...........

    My recipe:

    2 cups plain flour
    2tsp baking powder
    2 tsp sugar
    2 cups milk
    2 eggs - seperate
    2 tsp vanilla essence

Mix all ingredients except the egg whites.
whisk egg whites till softly peaking and then fold into the batter mix. don't overfold.
Use a 4oz ladle and pour a ladle's worth of mix into the hot machine and cook for approx 2 mins then repeat
  • I have been following this thread from the start and WOW it is so inspirational - feel like a failure in comparison, if I manage to make a loaf and a cake (plus our meals) in a day think I've accomplished something. A complaint though - have spent a fortune, was already a gadget - a - holic, thought I had everything Lakeland has ever sold in my bulging cupboards but no - I have now found room for a french bread tin, a donut maker and the dehydrator is on order - divorce is on the cards, my husband has been pushed aside for more gadgets - but at least he eats well! I am looking for a bit of help though now, my son has aspergers and also learning delay. Having read about the cf/gf diet from this thread, have gone and borrowed the book from Marilyn Le Breton. Anyone got any advice- am needing the push to try this - will I spend all my time cooking and all my money on fancy ingredients, am a bit of a starter of things usually, nearly had a heart attact as picked up some xantham gum and it was over £5!!!! I have no idea if my son is gluten or casein intolerant though I do know he has SEVERE nut allergy - which is a problem in itself. Should I give this ago? - I already have the recipes off here duly noted - its nice to use tried and tested ones isn't it. Sorry to have rambled on. Thanks.
