When I wore mascara I used olive oil, only a little wiped on with my fingers, left a little to break it down and then wiped with a warm flannel. No waste and a little went a long way.0

For many years I used only glycerine and rosewater(my grandmother's advice!) as a moisturiser, with Nivea for the occasional dry patch. However,as I've got older I need more heavy duty. If you worry about such things, go on to Ethical Consumer to see how the major brands fare. It's interesting - not always what you would expect, but can't really take into account what is easy for individuals to buy, and a couple of my favourite brands, which I know to be highly ethical, don't feature.0

I don't use anything other than soap, shampoo and deodorant. If I get really dry skin as sometimes happens in the winter I use some of the Johnsons Baby Lotion that I got when the first little grandson was born. The only other product that we have and both use on occasion is hand cream because of the wear and tear you get when you garden and the Norwegian one is very good as is the Cath Kidston rose perfumed one that I was given 3 years ago as a Christmas present. You can't get simpler than that can you?0

Although I supposed this is cheating for me a little. I am so pale, blonde anyway that there is not much difference between my old hair colour and the new one. Also, my hair has not gone grey it has gone pure white!
I’m in my late 50’s, have long mid to dark brown hair, have never used dye, and at the moment no white. Over the years I have had one or two pure white hairs which I pull out as soon as I spot them & contrary to the old wives tale relayed to me three white hairs did not grow for each one I pulled out. My DH on the other hand has lots of silvery grey interspersed in his mid brown hair. Whenever he goes to the barber he says the shop floor looks like a snow storm has hit! My DSis is six years younger, has dyed her hair frequently over the years (didn’t like her mouse brown natural colour) and now has lots of grey.
I vaguely remember that my DM didn’t get grey or white hairs until she was in her sixties and her hair was slightly darker than mine but she used to have highlights done every few months.
I’m not sure whether it is in the genes or if it is just luck, from my POV long may it continue!

I agree with the benefits of cider vinegar but I take mine slightly differently.
I put lots of vinegar on my chips and wash them down with cider.
Love It!

I saw my first grey hair in my 40s but I have to say it bothered those around me more than myself. Grey hair is ageing but ageing is a process denied to many and you cant please all the people all of the time so I embrace it.
Theres a woman I follow on YouTube who's self acceptance of the ageing process I find inspiring.

Sitting in bed early this morning enjoying a simple pleasure: snuggled up with the cats listening to a howling gale outside. A minor power cut flicked my heated blanket off standby so I woke up toasty. Lovely.
I see I am not the only early bird this morning! Are you all up for work or is this your normal time getting up? I've just packed a reluctant DH off to work.0 -
I stopped colouring my hair when I was 45 and decided to go grey gracefully. I have very shiny silver hair and it is in lovely condition but is getting thinner, age!! so I had to change my hairstyle to judi dench and this morning washed my hair and scrunched a teeny bit of shuemura wax into it. That wax will last at least 5 years at the rate I use it.0

I use oil to remove make up - it tends to be almond oil but I am not that fussy. Just a small dab (maybe 1p sized) on my hands - rub all over my face, paying attention to mascara'd eyes. Then wipe off with a hot flannel, using a clean flannel every day. In the morning i just use a hot flannel. I am not fussy about which moisturiser (though there are some I don't like), but always something - tinted in the winter to give my face a bit of ooomph.
I have thick curly hair - the thickest hair any hairdresser has ever seen EVER.....
i wash it every 4 to 5 days, which shocks a lot of people, mainly that i can stand it for that long without washing it but also that you don't notice that it hasn't been washed in ever so long. It takes so blimmin long to wash and rinse that i can't stand doing it more frequently than that. i tend to let it dry naturally and then straighten it. if i left it in a pony tail wet, i think it would grow mould before it dried...
I honestly think that my biggest achievement every day is getting showered / washed and dressed. i find it such a chore. Yet, if i don't wash my hair, it only takes 20 minutes. The make-up takes 2 minutes so that isn't the choriest bit... Actually my biggest achievement is getting out of the shower, when my instinct is to stay there till spring...:rotfl:I wanna be in the room where it happens0
