Not been online much lately, and trying to catch up with things. Sorry to see this thread is a bit slow lately. Always got some useful info and tips from here.

I agree with the idea of buying things locally and from small companies. I did that as much as I could this Christmas. My plans for next year are even more like that....all fruit & veg to carry on being from local greengrocer, who I know buys from local farmer. Meat from local butcher or farm shop. Honey purchases from my friend who keeps bees now. All my toiletries are, as much as possible, going to come from natural sources...Wild Olive are marvellous company. Make as many presents as I can....which won't be many as I am not very "crafty"...:rotfl:
I am starting my BIG declutter and selling or recycling stuff we don't need. A already have a bag started for CS, including some unwanted Christmas presents. Its not that I want to sound ungrateful, but no point me keeping them, if I am really not going to use them.
Going to walk more and use car less and go on more picnics and eat in less cafes.

Looking forward to sharing more tips with you all.

  • December is the time when everyone is busy with real life so naturally this tread got a bit slower. But I hope it will be an inspiration again in the new year. I really like all the advice and ideas everyone has and I also find that it puts me back in the right mood when I'm falling off the wagon.

Should we start a 2019 tread?

Ploppy, I can fully understand you about the presents. Just because they were a present we don't need them to stand around and clutter up the space while someone else might use them. For example last year I got 4 mugs for my birthday... I ended up taking the nicer two into work and getting rid of the other two. Have so many mugs at home, I really don't need more and they aren't any use cluttering up my shelfe...

I went to the shopping centre on Thurday as I needed a new shower head. Once more realised how much I hate shopping when I need to buy something. I'm ok just going in and out of shops having a browse and when it is too busy I just go out again. But I hate having to go in and brace the crowd because I need something...

I did some more decluttering during the last week, I had some Christmas decoration I will never ever use so it is gone now and then on CHristmas Day I had the urge to clear out my wardrobe and ended up with a massive box for donation and half a bin bag of things not good enough for donation. I still have a bunch of clothes that will hopefully fit again at some point but I now got rid of all the things I'm likely never wear again because my style has changed and only kept basics like jeans and shirts and a few dresses I think I'd still wear again. So I got the too-small clothes down from two boxes to one and freed some space in my wardrobe.

Have a lovely Sunday and a great rest of the year 2018!

Yes maybe a good idea to start a fresh 2019 thread.

Yes, the presents I am recycling to the CS were a not very nice scented candle and some smellies that just aren't my sort of thing. I feel guilty getting rid of them, but hope that somebody else will love them.
