I still haven't had any confirmation, how long does it usually take - getting worried as I don't want to buy anything until I have got written confirmation.

If it helps fluffyfifi i checked my cc this morning and the money was debited by Inghams yesterday, 17th (£598+1.5%cc) :T

With the state of our postal service at the moment i'm not at all worried, booked my airport car park and travel insurance this morning ;), neither requiring the Royal Mail to get involved.

It might be an idea if you've not already spoken to them, i phoned them on Tuesday and they said it was all sorted and all the paperwork was done and about to be posted.

(i received a piece of second class mail this morning that was posted on the 10th, pretty disgraceful when you consider that on the first day back i got half a tree's worth of junk mail/adverts straight on my doormat..... make the post service a free-for-all, that's what i say)

  • Thanks for all your help - I've rung Inghamas and everything is sorted, flying out on 2nd December. Now looking to book the car park - I've found £78 for 8 days parking and accommodation on the 1st for the four of us, is this good or has anyone got anything cheaper?

We received our written confirmation this morning, everythings spot-on:beer: £606.....saving £1600 !!!!!

Where are you flying from Fluffyfifi, we're from Birmingham and have got car park for £28 for 8 days on-site (NCP)
Great idea to book a hotel which allows you to park..... there was a Holiday Inn Express at Birmingham (10mins away) which offered Saturday night accommodation, breakfast, parking for 8 days and vouchers for free taxi's to/from the airport...all for £79

More info:- using Moneysupermarket for the insurance which was £28 for four of us with Winter sports protection (inc toboganning)
  • Thanks curtlyb, we are flying from Gatwick. The insurance sounds like a good deal and will check it out.

make sure that insurance covers you for husky rides etc as it may not be covered under general winter sports cover

Sometimes this place costs me more than it saves me!!

I've booked :D My sister in Law is giving us half the cost as a Christmas present! Thanks to the OP. I've been with my son but DH and DD haven't been at all. I never thought we'd be able to justify the cost but that is a bargain! I can't wait!

Just to reassure you guys, you will have a fab time. We stayed at the Levitunturi hotel (I may have spelt this wrong) and it was first class. Definately book the huskie safari and the reinder racing - I have never laughed so much in my life. It is very cold there but when you are indoors it is warm so take loads of layers. We flew with Ingramms on a last min deal, some rooms had there own saunas but the complex was 1st class for those without. Alcohol is expensive so buy it in the duty free on your way out ( a beer is £5 +) and they have a habit of taking your jackets from you at hotel and bar front doors (quite safe) and charging you a minimal fee for the cloakroom but I think this is more to do with keeping the place tiday - it is spotless. I wish I was going !!! Skiing was not challenging but a holiday where you can see the reddest sunsets and the northern lights must not be missed - oh yes and Santa !!! Enjoy..............
