  • This reminds me of the time I wanted to get a cat, but my boyfriend didn't.
So we compromised and now we've got two cats.

I am very conscious of slipping in those kinds of slippery situations, so I'm very careful.

I'm sure you will be too now that it's happened once, and so it's unlikely to happen.

They're not unhygienic. We've always had a bath/shower mat and have brought up 3 kids with them. All still very much alive and well! It's people who are unhygienic not bath mats :rotfl:.

The only one I've seen which was caked in dreadfulness was one belonging to an elderly relative who used it in the bath, but evidently didn't bother removing it and rinsing the under side of it after each bath. But I'd still rather they used it than risk them having an accident, slipping and hurting themselves.

I wanted a dog and my boyfriend didn't. Now I don't have a boyfriend.
  • If you want a bath mat, just buy one. You don't need his permission for such a trivial item. He can move it off when he showers/bathes and you move it back in when you want to use it.

This isn't about the mat is it really? What's really wrong OP?

I love posts like this, opening with a question. The O.P leaves themself wide open to some great replies.
Blimey you are being silly, in my opinion, and you did ask. There are a few options:
    A: be more careful
B: use a towel folded in two then throw in the wash basket
C: get your own personal monogrammed bath mat
D: be prepared for more demanding set tos. If you both throw a strop over this what will you be like with the heavy stuff?
Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.

Buy one and use it when you shower and remove once done.

No you aren't being silly. In my opinion there should always be a shower/bath mat.

This isn't about a mat, this is about the boyfriends reaction. I think the op is feeling a bit unloved by the boyfriend. She tells him she slips in the shower, no reaction. She asks if they can get a shower mat, he doesn't want one.
She believes he doesn't really care about her.
The perfect reaction would have been for him to ask her she was ok and then provide something to ensure it doesn't happen again. To show he cares.

She isn't questioning the mat but how much he cares after all, if this is really about slipping in the shower a mat is not the only answer? Flip flops, a flannel, socks, could be used to prevent slipping?
