I think that it is time parents got together and rebelled against these utterly pointless rules. How does the length of hair impact on a young persons education as long as it is clean and tidy. What difference does so much sport clothing make to the average child I only ever had one games skirt for the whole time I was at secondary school, which we had to make in needlework. I was hopeless then and I dont think all the fancy clothing would have improved my performance. If a child belongs to school teams it is different but for most it is a waste of hard earned money. To mis quote "Parent of Britain arise you have nothing to lose but huge school uniform bills.6

Parent of Britain arise you have nothing to lose but huge school uniform bills.
Absolutely right, ladyholly. Where on earth did all these rules and regulations come from? When I was at school (admittedly a very long time ago) the uniform was a white shirt, grey trousers or skirt of any design, grey jumper, black shoes and a blazer with a sew on school badge if your parents could afford it. If not any coat or jacket would do. The only thing they insisted that we all wear that was the same was a school tie which could be bought from school. I don't think not having all these fancy uniforms stopped me from learning and we represented our school by good behaviour and manners - something sadly lacking these days (not your children, obviously, but I'm sure you know what I mean) .
And, forgive me for saying so, but it is not a teacher's job to teach not to going around checking that boys have the right haircut?Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.7 -
Morning WB
I'd sign the 'contract' and then forget about it. From what I've read about your DC's I don't imagine any of them are going to do anything other than what they should at school and I'm sure their behaviour and how they present themselves is the least of your worries. I hope all this talk of uniform hasn't made you even more anxious
Tell us to stop if it has
Ladyholly, I also made my PE skirt in needleworkToni, a tie was all we 'had' to buy as well. The rest of my uniform came from C&A
From my own point of view and I'm sure it'll be the same for WB and lots of parents out there, the rules and regulations don't really matter because our children go to school and do what's expected of them. Unfortunately, school uniform has been a bone of contention for years and even though it's supposed to have been looked at, I don't think it's really changed that much in favour of parent's finances. xx

Course not Tea. Hope I don't come across as moaning 😳
Raining again today. It puts me in a mood because I know the day will be so much longer than if it wasnt.
Smalls doing school work. Have been cleaning round. Need to meal plan and finish up my food shop for Wednesday.
Hope you're all okay.“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”6 -
Tea fo two and tonisfiend I think we must be similar age. Yep a tie was the only school shop purchase. Although thinking back we had to have grey or a rather nasty blue knee socks at my final school (or stockings/tights). I rebelled and wore ankle socks until 5th year. Tights were too dear for me at almost 10shillings (50p) so stockingd it was at 2shillings. (10p)School chairs were not good for them.6

I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

Kind of chrystal. Waiting for a face to face hearing. Have a representative etc in place to attend with me. But still waiting really. Covid delayed it again. Like I needed anymore delays.

I really hope you get some results from the DLA soon."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee5

Evening WB
No you don't come across as moaning at all, I just didn't want all of us talking about uniform to make you feel more anxious than you already do about it.
Ladyholly, my first year at high school was in 1978 and I remember begging my Mum to buy me knee length blue socks because they were the thing to wear at our school back then. Mind you the classrooms were freezing so it could have been more about keeping warm than fashion! xx4 -
WB You are amazing and I really dont know how you do so much with your little ones when you have so little. If I were you I think I would be moaning the whole time instead of being as positive as you are.Tea for Two I am a fair bit older than you I left secondary school in 1969. Fortunately we lived in the south of England so ankle socks were not too bad. Stockings were more difficult as Iwas allergic to the metal on suspenders.3
