Blimey the shops were so much worse than I expected yesterday . No eggs , no pasta, no rice , zero tinned food ( in Sainsbury’s) 😩 no nappies, no baby formula 💔 that was across 3 local supermarkets to me.I do have a bookers cash and carry membership so looks like I may need to check them out however I really didn’t want to be buying in those sort of quantities.
WB if you want me to check bookers for pasta if you still can’t get any let me know

Thank you x
I have emailed the school so they have it in writing along with the request for work to do.
Northern soul even bookers here had no pasta or paracetamol. The supermarkets are bare here. I wonder why some areas are affected more than others. Even the local corner shop has no pasta etc.
Thank you Suffolk.

I had the misfortune to go to MrS this morning and couldnt even buy skimmed milk. People are being so selfish and are certainly appear to be of the every man for himself variety. I was so angry at the huge amounts being bought just in case and never a thought for the elderly and vulnerable or anyone who can only afford to buy as they need it. If people dont catch Covid 19 they will be able to shop and if they do they probably wont want to eat much anyway. The behaviour is disgusting but I really think the mediia has a lot to answer for in stirring up panic in many. On the good side one of my neighbours have dropped a note through the door offering help if we need it. It restores a little faith in human nature.

Media - and indeed social media - is responsible for a lot of the issues round panic buying I think. not helpful, and not helped by people engaging with it either. We have "enough" of various things, and are making reasoned decisions around replacing things we're using - ie we used up a couple of bags of bread flour over the weekend between pizza bases and making a bulk-batch of rolls, but we have another 2 bags white/1 bag wholemeal in the storecupboard so have decided there's no need to buy more right now. I'm trusting that by the time the final bag of white comes out of the cupboard there will be more to purchase. what annoys me is the suspicion that a lot of those buying bread flour now don't currently make bread but are buying it "in case" - once things calm down and are back to normal, they'll remember they had it, decide they no longer need it, and it'll get thrown out.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Yes Essex Hebridean I think there is going to be a lot of wasted food. Sorry to hijack your diary WF but I am absolutely fuming over the waste and selfishness.

No need to apologise. It's real. It's happening.
The sad and most selfish thing about it is the ones who will struggle the most are those who we all should be looking out for. The vunerable.
As I said about the hand santisers. A lot with complex medical needs or even home care workers etc use that day in day out. All year round. There's never a problem finding the amount we need. Now it's no where.
Budget brand pasta/bread/beans other basics are being stockpiled - by those who wouldnt usually purchase that options - those who do rely on the basic brands being available aren't able to stockpile. Their budgets don't allow going to fill trolleys full of things you don't NEED right in this moment or even this week. Pure selfishness.

The hand sanitiser is an interesting one. Most of those you buy in the shops aren't likely to have high enough alcohol content to be of much use - yet people are buying them because they feel it's better to feel as though they are doing "something". We rarely use them - I have a tiny bottle that I carry in my camera bag for airshows as sometimes there are only portaloos, and they don't always have running water, so I like to know I have something with me in case the hand gel runs out. I've not bought any more, and nor do I plan to.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I did notice that it is budget brand stuff that is going very quickly. My daughter and son in law asked me to get them eggs as they are self isolating due to granddaughters cough (just a cold) and the only ones left were the top of the range organic ones which are expensive. Same for toilet rolls and tinned stuff. Plenty of the branded stuff but no budget. I have upgraded on groceries to leave the budget brands for those who cant afford the expensive stuff so not mse but hopefully a little less selfish.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. I have just realised how harsh my last post came across. It was not intended that way at all.
I just don't understand the need for such stockpiling. Even countries in full lockdown have access to food and medicines.“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”6
