My son went into a supermarket near Leeds early this morning. The shelves were virtually empty. He happened to comment to the store manager who was standing amongst it all.His words to my son were 'well what a daft time to shop, early Monday morning, suggest you do it at a more reasonable hour.
My son had just come off a night shift. He is a surgeon.
His response was 'While the ignorant, selfish morons of our society are bulk buying, for the last 13 hours I have been operating on someone's brain, that is why I am here now, just off a night shift. He then dropped his basket at the managers feet and walked out.
This is society today.

It isn’t harsh at all. It’s spot on. And you’re absolutely right. Supplies are still getting through in countries that are in lockdown. There is enough to go round. It is pure selfishness not to consider those less fortunate.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.7

I just don't understand the need for such stockpiling. Even countries in full lockdown have access to food and medicines.I am in a fortunate position that I haven’t run out of basics yet, but this is down to the fact my household has halved in the past 12 weeks & I lost my appetite not from good planning or stockpiling.
if u don’t find nappies over next few days there might be an issue though .
keep on keeping on .. you are doing amazingly given the extra stress & anxieties you are having to deal with

Has society really changed THAT much, or is it just the few who are so obnoxious that they can't be overlooked?
I still have to believe that the vast majority of people are kind and caring, and if this lasts as long as they think it will maybe the 'few' will realise that we all have to pull together or go under.
I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

How rude of the manager and how unnecessary to speak to a customer like that!
The panic buying is bonkers. I read today that supermarkets may close fish counters, cafes, etc, in order to allow all their staff to concentrate on keeping shelves stocked up. I think that seems a very good idea. More and more shops are rationing so hopefully that will help soon.
I hope you manage to get what you need. It seems very sensible to keep your elder two at home and I hope the school are understanding about it.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

The be kind campaign after the recent celebrity death didn't last long.
I had to go for nappies. 4 different stores and the only pack available was £12. That's half my weekly shopping budget on a normal week. It's just ridiculous. I don't even know what to say about it anymore because it's just unbelievable.“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”6 -
In other news
School never replied or called me back.
We went to get something checked out with youngests meds. She was reweighed and it fixed. Glad I checked hoping the correct dose will now resolve some issues. Although the anxiety of being out was really high. We showered and everything cleaned as soon as we were home. We kept our distance from others. It was a really surreal feeling.
Hoping school will help with work packs or at least what I should be focussing on.
I feel slightly better now I've made my decision although my anxiety is still controlling me and not the other way round. I don't think it's ever been quite as bad as now. I've stopped drinking coffee and things to see if this helps. It doesn't help the lack of sleep and trying to trundle through the days though. So will not be a permanent thing. It's needed to get through 20 hour days.

Evening again.
Cleaned and sorted for the day. Now for the night shift.
The new government guidelines outlined today means youngest falls in the category of isolating for 12 weeks from the weekend. The team involved have called and suggested I get prepared for this. However PHE will be contacting me directly as she fits in the category of "more stringent measures" needed.
It feels a bit like it's all jumped from nothing and being in the unknown to quite severe disruption. 12 weeks is a very long time to be socially isolated. It also leaves open a lot of questions. Sleep separately but she requires supervision? What about the older two? Shopping? What preparing can I do? I'm in no way able to be prepared for 12 weeks of not visiting a shop/pharmacy etc? I can only see the mindless stockpiling getting worse.
We'll cope. We could be worse off. I do realise this is to prevent the situation getting worse. I'm not moaning. I want to keep her safe. But I want to be able to feed them along with gas/electric and things too.
Such scary times all round I think. The nurse was quite shocked how these measures are now coming in this weekend. They expected at least another 3-4 weeks. It shows even those working their hardest for us are quite anxious about the ever changing situation.“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”11
