I'm sorry things you need are so expensive at the moment. It's not nice to profit from people in genuine need.
I think you're wise to keep youngest home from school just to be on the safe side.
I hope the shops will restock soon and people will stop all this silly panic buying. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I think the panic buying just seems to be getting worse HH. It's spreading to more things. Today there wasn't sugar on the shelves either.
Things are now limited. But there isn't anything there anyway (and one person was telling the pharmacist that he'd been 3 times that day to get some of the things that are on a limit so it doesnt work)“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”6 -

The panic buying is mad - I suppose some people genuinely can't think through what they might need, while others want to sell at a profit.
However it's also just wrong when it means things can't get to people who genuinely need them.
As for cost to the NHS - thank goodness we have it for those who need it. That was one of the biggest steps forward Britain ever made. Yes, it's creaking and overstretched but as a nurse I know said: it's the best it's ever been. They can help more people than ever before. IMO it's the values of our society that need to catch up. (Cherry jumps off her bandwagon).
I suppose eventually there will be some sort of restriction on hoarding depending on how long this goes on - or people will barter things. Or, as a colleague suggested, people will start to break into garages to raid the stashes. However this forum is evidence there are plenty of people who hold out against panic buying and are looking at needs not wants.
In our area the shops stock up but people are going early (or as you said, repeatedly) so stock goes off the shelves quickly.
The other side of it is... it can't last forever. This will pass. The sun will shine again. Italy will export pasta and tinned tomatoes. You will feel safe letting youngest go to school. Your missing money will come through. Hold on. The darkest hour, as they say, is just before dawn (and the nights are getting shorter). xx

Thank you x
I think should it continue to escalate and get a much bigger infection rate over the weekend. I'll be keeping the older two home from Monday. I feel it's adding to my anxiety too much to risk any longer even if I look stupid.
The pharmacy still don't have youngests meds in. They are trying to source it before 2pm. We don't have enough to get us to Monday so they need to sort something.
I just want to get to the 25th when I can do the months food shop. Sort the bills and things. And just be comfortable in our bubble for a few weeks at least.
Thank you again x“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”9 -
Morning WB
You won't be the only one concerned about children going into school but I wonder what the general reaction will be for parents who make the decision not to send their children in because they're worried, or like yourself have a vulnerable person in the home that needs protecting as much as possible. We've not had anything saying send them in or else, nor have we had anything saying if you feel your child is safer at home, then that's OK by us. In fact, apart from telling us the Head is in self isolation we've not heard a thing although I don't suppose there's much to say really. I think by the time the decision is made to close schools en masse some will already be shut if staff or pupils are infected.
Do you do a monthly shop and then top up with bits each week? Maybe by the time the 25th rolls round people will have enough loo rolls, pasta and sugar in their cupboards and the stores might be better stocked. Or at the very least they might be able to use the next fortnight to get a plan of action together so that everybody gets a chance to buy things.
The sun is shining here today which always makes things feel better I think - well that's what I'm telling myselfxx

Your youngest isn't costing the NHS so much; this is part of what living in a supposedly civilised society covers. She's a drop in the ocean, so please don't beat yourself up about it.
I know it's a big ask right now, but when things improve, there isn't any poss of moving to the other local area where everything is easier? I appreciate that this may well be unrealistic, but sometimes it's more practical to lower the Atlantic than to raise the Titanic?
As you know, you have your devoted posse of admirers who think the world if you and would love to help. Just let us know love Humdinger x8 -
Hi Wannabe
I really hope you don’t mind me coming out of lurkdem to post on your diary (very long time reader of yours & many other diaries but lost my old log in when the forum updated).
Firstly just want to say what an amazingly courageous and strong mummy you are, a true inspiration to me and many others 💕
I can’t begin to imagine how tough things are for you and your little ones right now but wanted to see if I could offer some info that may possibly help with escalating the provision of youngests medicines (apologies if already aware of this) .
each CCG area should have their own Medicines Management Department /Team that have a responsibility for overseeing policies & procedures for medicines throughout local GPs and community Pharmacies. If possible could you try and contact them explaining your current situation and they may be able to liaise with ‘All’ community pharmacies and even local hospital pharmacies to locate the medicines to fill the current prescription that is outstanding , you could ask your pharmacy to contact them for help if this feels too big for you right now. This team at the CCG is also likely to be responsible for the policy saying no ‘paracetamol’ on prescription, they should have an individual patient appeal process but appreciate that is something for another day right now .
have you tried asking the hospital team if they would issue a paracetamol prescription for youngest whilst things are so dire for you? ( hospital prescription budget different to GP so they may have some flexibility in extenuating circumstances) .

Stay strong for yourself as well as your littlies 💛 You are important too 💛11
