I really hope the crazy will be over this week, surely once everyone has 6 months supply of loo roll and cupboards full of whatever was on the shelves things will slow down and be more normal. If you can get through the next 2 weeks you should be able to feel a bit better in yourself, and hopefully more will be known about the spread of it. It may be that some schools will close if there are cases in the area, which would be boring for the children, but probably a relief for you if they are not mixing with others.Credit card debt - NIL

I'm actually concerned as the cases rise people are just getting more crazy. Especially considering the comparisons to where Italy was a week or so ago and it seems that's where we are heading.
Still on youngests supplies watch. Still double the cost than I paid 2 weeks ago but not getting higher so far.
It will be interesting what tomorrows cobra meeting reveals. I'm considering changing an appointment I have Thursday. Youngests appointment for Friday is now being done over the phone from that department too. Which I feel better about.
Youngest has a thing on at school for mothers day. The plan was she'd attend. She's definitely well enough in herself. But is it a risk worth taking? She also has a phonics screening test coming up. I don't want to hold her back from her peers. But how do I decide what's best.“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”7 -
How long til the holidays?

Not until the 3rd of April Beanie. We only get 1 week too.“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”6

Hi WB
Phonics screening is usually done by the teacher and I'd say waiting a few more weeks for that to be done won't make much difference. If she's susceptible to picking things up and you're as worried about her as you've indicated I wouldn't take her into school. It's not long until Easter and I think the next 2 or 3 weeks will give us all a better indication of what's happening and how serious it is. We have a local school closed for a week over here because a pupil has the virus. Personally I think the writing is on the wall and this will become more common. I just wouldn't risk it and please don't take this the wrong way, especially for a 'fun event'. Just my thoughts for what they're worth

I agree tea. I really don't want her to go. I'm a bit worried though is her being home pointless when the other two are going? I actually have no idea? School are not supportive. At all. They haven't even stepped up hand washing (older two are very aware that if they don't wash their hands properly and the consequences) but many of their friends etc don't wash hands before lunch etc.
I don't know how the older two mixing affects the risk with youngest?
I feel really anxious still. I cannot wait till the holidays.“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”7 -
Good to hear that they can do Friday's appointment over the phone - I wonder if that's something they'd consider for more normal times, too, even if it's just occasionally.
I'm with tea: I think if you are worried (and you are the best informed about youngest's susceptibilities) then don't send her to school in the near future. By the time the Easter holidays are over we will probably have a clearer picture of what's going on. The virus may be blowing itself out by then so something that's important but not urgent - like phonics testing - can wait a bit longer.

I know what you mean and I'm no expert but I'd say it's about eliminating as much risk as you possibly can. Sitting in a classroom with 30 other children or in a hall with 100's of them doesn't sound like that's the best way of doing that.
Our lunch ladies used to stand over the children while they washed their hands and it's the least they should be doing, virus or no virus.
To be honest you could probably do the phonics test yourself. Ask them to send it home for her to try. Even if it's not an official mark it'll give you an idea of where she's up to. I'm assuming they're sending work home for her to do anyway so she's not falling too far behind. xx7 -
As tea says eliminating risk as much as possible.
