The virus is near. We have confirmed cases. One very very close to our home and 2 local but further away. Youngest isn't in school but obviously the older two still are. I went to get some calpol today and I went to 5 different shops and couldn't get any! Ended up having to pay for real branded stuff in a fuel station! Not impressed. People are crazy. I mean I don't have the means to stockup on anything but even if I did it wouldn't be to the extent I've seen today. The shelves where bare of lots of things. I noticed the prices on syringes and things where I order from have increased. I hope it blows over very quickly because my anxiety is through the roof of how we will manage.

Morning WB
Don't think the press are helping with the panic buying situation although I went shopping yesterday and the shelves were full of food and medicines in every shop I went in. We've not got any cases here yet so that may be the reason why.
Shopping is coming today and I've added a bread mix and pastry mix to it as extra - up north you can do anything with pastryIt'll be interesting to see if it all arrives. My contribution to the household's health is to do a daily clean of all door handles, light switches, laptops, phones etc. DS is probably the one most susceptible to picking it up, but having said that I think the virus would take one look at him and his friends and run away
I'll probably be out shopping again at weekend. If there's anything you're struggling to get PM me and I'll pick some things up for you, if we still have them! I know it's a worry but for your own sanity try not to get too worked up about it. xx

Thank you Tea. I couldn't even get just basic painkillers. I couldn't afford branded. It makes me annoyed people are just buying so much. I think that causes more issues than the actual threat of the virus. It's annoying that it's simple things families like me and many others rely on that have all seem to be what's been stockpiled. I actually tried to get myself a GP appointment and couldn't! I'm waiting for a phone call in the hope that he agrees to see me.
My appointment yesterday went okay. Not brilliant. Have had to delay going back until after the 25th and I'm waiting for a referral to a centre in the city. Which I think will probably be delayed with all this going on. Until then I just need to get on with it.
My anxiety is awful. It's awful how much it can take over. It's just crushing

I don't buy very much medicinal stuff anyway but when I do it's never branded. To me a painkiller is a painkiller, although touch wood I rarely take them and only then it's to shift the odd headache.
I do wonder just how much people are expecting to have to eat their way through. A normal sized bag of pasta lasts us at least a month anyway! If it gets out of hand the stores will have to limit what people can have I suppose.
Is it this virus situation in particular that's affecting your anxiety? Do you know if you can post painkillers. If so I'll send you some. xx7 -
I think it's just the things around the virus tea making it worse. I called through as perscription and they said there could be delays. The food/things from you buy yourself makes me worry I don't have spares of things.
The gp was useless. I've actually rang to put a complaint in Because he's actually made me cry. Although I am probably over sensitive. When this happened before xmas I ended up in a&e nearly being admitted. I'd seen the same Dr who refused to prescribe me antibiotics. I'm in the exact same situation and he's done the same thing. Told me if I didn't agree with him to see out of hours if I feel they do his job better. I can't get to out of hours. It's nearly 8 miles away. I don't want to leave it and end up in a&e with all 3 smalls when it's the last thing I or the NHS need. It's so ridiculous.
It feels like the last few weeks nothing else can kick me any lower. Yet it still keeps coming.“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”8 -
Blimey he sounds horrible. I'd book in with a different GP in future. We never get to see our GP anyway, it's just whoever's available. If not can you move surgeries - just you, not the children if you'd rather they stayed because of their history being known?
I've checked about the post and you can send things through, so I'll get some painkillers to you so you've got some in stock. Have a brew and try to switch off from it all for 5 minutes if you can. xx8 -
Sending hugs WB. The GP situation you encountered is really poor. Can you ask for a note on your file to say you have a dependent child who is vulnerable and so you should be considered for home visits? xx

Omg wannabe, the GP sounds appalling! Chippy too, as that comment suggests that he's dealing with comments regularly. Glad you've complained; you don't have to take his opinion on board and he's totally out of order. You deserve a medal for standing up to him when you already have so much on. Love Humdinger x7
