  • No judgement here on the loan but I am glad - as I think you will be in time (if not already!) that they turned you down. I genuinely think you would have regretted it pretty soon down the line.

Also agree with those saying that the "prize that's not a prize" at the school is ludicrous - but massive kudos to your DS for accepting the situation as it is - what a lovely lad!

In terms of paint, have you got a community repaint site near you? People can donate their part tins for reuse. It's sold on at affordable prices.

It might be worth having a look: https://communityrepaint.org.uk/need-paint/

    Thank you

Today is hectic between school and appointments and chasing meds and things. So will be back with a better reply later. But thank you for all stopping in x

Will have a look at that jwil never heard of that so thank you and no it's actually a really bad area with lots of homeless etc. The irony is DS wants to go to the secondary school that's 'related' to this primary and the secondary fund 99% of the trips and things. Strange really.

Sorry Tuna will reply now x

Or your local freecycle or free FB groups. I've found where I am now freecycle is pretty much useless, but I've been posting stuff on local community groups in the last few days and have got rid of a lot of stuff from the garage that other people can make use of. I wish I'd known before

If you don't want people to know who you really are when responding to posts or putting up your own then create a new ID with a different email address (its easy enough to get extra email addresses).

  • We couldn't afford to take our children abroad more than once whe they were growing up, but DS2 and DS3 are making up for it now by travelling abroad with money they've earned themselves. DS's time will come and when it does he will really appreciate it and not take it for granted like some rich kids do :).

    Well said HH :)

Like others have said, great for DS to get the recognition but not really a prize if they're not paying for it. Bit naughty that :(

  • Like Cherryfudge I was always the kid whose parents couldn't afford the school trips abroad. It never did me any harm and now I can afford it I'm going to all the places I wanted to go to but couldn't. I have to agree. It's great that they recognise his achievements but what a stupid prize. Sometimes I wonder what planet these people are living on. He's a lovely boy with a lovely mother and his time will come. I've every confidence that he will make a great success of his life.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

Thank you I will have a look at what I can find locally

I have spoken to school. As long as I pay the deposit DS can go. Even if I'm still paying down the balance when it's time to go and when he gets back. I'm not sure what to do to be honest.

Going abroad isn't something that has really crossed my mind. I wouldn't be brave enough to take youngest even if money wasn't an issue :o

Have done one school run. Have another at 5.30. Then tomorrow morning I have something to attend in the morning and one of them staying on until 4.30. Busy busy.
