The 'Widows mite' was a big thing for a reason.... it was everything she had, so in effect worth far more than the gold given by people who had plenty more at home.
Your efforts aren't just financial. They're mental, physical and emotional. Never put yourself down. You are doing a fantastic job under extremely difficult circumstances. ((((hugs))))

The daily worries of having a child who's ill will probably never go away and I think your situation is harder because you have nobody to share them with. But you're doing the best you can for her and the other two so don't forget that.

You're right, debt is all relative although the stress of having it is probably the same for most people. You certainly shouldn't feel out of place posting about it. It's as hard for you to find £10 a week as it is for somebody else to find £100.

I know it's not a given that you'll get it and it's still a way off being sorted out, but when DLA comes through you'll be in a much better position - those 8 years will more than likely turn into months. That's of no help to you now obviously, but it might help knowing there's a realistic chance you're going to be debt free much sooner than the figures you're working off now indicate.

Did you end up having to take the UC loan out in the end? I know you said the rent would take 4 years to pay back but now you're at 8 :(

Keep going WB. We're all here supporting you. xx

No tea I didn't take the loan from UC. The 8 years is everything I owe with the new rent arrears and the other stuff. I couldn't have managed if I'd taken the loan from UC like I say currently I'm not even paying anything back to the debt yet but UC would have been a lot more than what I'd put in the budget.

And I'm not moaning at all I'm so lucky with where I am now and I feel so grateful for the help and support I have/had I'm luckier than most.

Youngest is just something I have to accept that there isn't answers too. It shows more recent events with youngest is playing on my mind as I've been having nightmares about stuff.

Still waiting for the nurse ...

You don't come across as moaning - you're just stating what the situation is at the present time. I remember you saying you really didn't want to take the UC loan because of the tough repayments so I'm glad you didn't have to do that.

My friend has daily worries with her DS and it's hard. I don't think anybody can really relate to that unless they've been there so I won't try. You're doing the best you can for her and fighting her corner and that's all you can ask of yourself. xx

    Sorry. I am a tad confused:o
So you owe the HA the months rent arrears and other money to them too.
    Have I got that right?

No Beanie I don't owe them. I was referring to everything I owed in the world if I was to declare being 'really' debt free. I was just meaning in general too. I'm not putting a time on paying it back as right now I'm not paying it down and I'm trying not to worry about that. The person in the programme last night started out with 2 parking fines. His escalated amount was similar to mine now. However the comments online say 'only' X amount - and other disgusting comments regarding his actions for 'that' amount. It opened my eyes more than whatever amount is unmanageable and be crippling to me, could be absolutely nothing to the next person and so on. Just random ranting.

Nurse has been. She's changed our next appointment from a home visit to an on site visit. Boo! But it does mean it will be next week rather than this!

Now I need to feed the smalls because its way past dinner time and get them in the bath. I feel like I've done nothing all day and now it will be a mad rush to be 'on time'

P.S I think its stopped raining ... shh lets hope it stays dry tomorrow!

  • I remember hearing about that poor guy you're talking about, Wannabe. It was really tragic, really did not need to happen at all. Poor guy :(

Sorry I don't think I worded it right before.

I was referring to the figures in the sense the man took his life owed just over £1000 and the comments that where made about the 'small' amount of debt he had etc. To some that may seem small as £1000 could probably be less than what they pay monthly to service debt so to them it may seem 'small' where as someone in a situation like me/others with the same budget as me or even worse that £1000 is life changing. It's years to clear that amount.

I think I've worded it better now for what I was meaning :o

I got what you were saying WB and I'm sure others did as well. As you say, it's all relative to each individual's situation.

Regardless of what anybody owes, the fact that suicide seems the only way out is absolutely tragic. :(
