Will pm you about the DLA when I have 5 minutes if that's okay? I'm worried about if it means I'll need to switch to UC too? So confusing.
I know EE will help you but to reassure yourself re DLA in the meantime, look at this link on Gov.uk and on the right side of my screen it links to the DLA Link for adults - that adults link says the adults allowance is being replaced by PIP - but it is clear that DLA is remaining for childrenSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £9586.01 out of £6000 after August (158.45%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £2226.88/£3000 or 74.23% of my annual spend so far

Thank you Cherry have a lovely day too x
Suffolk Lass I know youngest will stay on/receive DLA. UC is relating to my other benefits child tax credits etc as there will be another change in my circumstances. Sorry

I have offered £50 then £25 a week for 7ish weeks a smaller payment on the 7th week obviously. It's a different account number to the council tax I pay now.
Only you know how stressed this is making you feel.
If they will accept an offer of payment by phone then that is your best option but if they wont then it will be passed to the bailiff to come to the house.
The general advice I give my clients is not to let them in and ignore all contact which includes letters/texts/door knocking, if you are strong enough to do this then you should but if you are not strong enough to ignore all the contact and you have nothing of value then you should let the bailiff in, if he sees you have nothing he can accept an arrangement or return to the council - if he accepts an arrangement he may do a controlled goods agreement which is where he writes down all your 'items of value' and you agree that if you dont pay x amount per week he can take the goods (baring in mind the goods he will have written down will have no value and some he won't be able to take legally but will write them all down to scare you into paying - this tactic works which is why they do it)
I still think it is worth emailing your local councillor to explain your full situation including youngests ill health. Will pm you about the DLA when I have 5 minutes if that's okay? I'm worried about if it means I'll need to switch to UC too? So confusing.
Of course its fine to PM
You wont have to claim UC as it is not a change in circumstance which necessitates a new claim, if awarded you would just get a disabled child element added to child tax credit as this change can be done by phone and does not mean you complete a new claim form.0 -
Agree with EE
DO NOT OPEN YOUR DOOR TO THEM, DO NOT GIVE THEM ACCESS

A mate of mine, after leaving service, worked for bailiffs, he lasted all of 4 hours before he told them to shove it. In those four hours he said he learned exactly what really nasty and downright evil pieces of s*** bailiffs / debt collectors were and this was from a guy who was a counter terrorism specialist for 12 years.

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

Sorry about the baliffs Wannabe
. I would ignore them and don't let them in until it's passed back to the council. It's great that all the fines, etc, are ex's responbility from now on, thank goodness he's not on the tenancy anymore :T.
I hope you enjoy your walk and roast dinner.

I emailed my counsellor before for help, and also considered going to a surgery held by the cousellor to get help. The couNsellor emailed me back before I got to the surgery and was able to contact the council - as did the police - on my behalf. It was easy and they were helpful.15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

Thank you EE will drop you a pm with the benefit stuff tomorrow.
I offered him the £50 and £25 a week until clear and he refused saying it was too long. He would take the £50 and the remainder in 2 halves but I can't do thatSo I'm not sure what his next plan is. I gave up going round in circles with him and I'll call him tomorrow.
Thank you HH it's such a relief all his stuff can now be moved on to somewhere else. I'd stopped using the front door I was that worried about some of the things he's behind on
We didn't go for a walkwe cleared round in the garden for a while and then the girls spent the afternoon crafting. I feel like I've been busy all day and got nothing done
Still the important stuff is cleaned and ready and everyone's been fed bathed and is in bed

Thank you EG the police have been helpful for some other issues ongoing but I don't think they will get involved with bailiffs. They did help over the stuff that wasn't really there job but where here for something else so that was good. I have been speaking to the local counsellor over something else and the DLA so will see if this is something she can have a word on too.“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”0
