Evening
We had a lovely day. It's still cold though! Might just be me however :rotfl:
We had a walk through the park to l!dl picked up some veg and a loaf and walked back through the park. Right into the middle of an incident and I had to call 999!
We are home now. Smalls are eating dinner and then it's curry (out the freezer) and a movie for me later.

Do you not even get a relaxing walk through the park??!! Hope you are ok as a 999 incident I imagine will have been stressful.

The usual advice for bailiffs collecting council tax is to ignore them and eventually the debt will be returned to the council but I appreciate the stress of waiting for this to happen may be too much.
If you have nothing of value (beds don't count) then it is best to let them in to see you have nothing and then they should either accept an arrangement or send the debt back to the council.
Prior to this happening you should ring the bailiff phone number and see if they will take an arrangement.
Personally I would be contacting your local district councillor (the ones linked to the council where you pay the council tax) and explaining the situation and asking them to get involved as the council have been so lax in their collection procedures (I thought you had been paying £25pw to an old debt?).
The councillor should be able to get the debt recalled from the bailiffs and sent to the council - this would be my preferred option as then you don't have to pay bailiff costs.
Regarding DLA - I would be making a new claim while the old claim is at appeal but be aware that they may refuse this and then you would have to go through the whole process again although appeal 1 would over ride appeal 2 (if it got to that stage)0 -

EG it's actually not out the ordinary here although normally I wouldn't get involved and just walk on by
I keep myself to myself but today I kept walking and called the police
Sought reassurance though and others local would have done the same so I don't feel as bad.
EE so is it best to let them in? I really don't have anything of value. Our furniture etc is all second hand and just 'normal' white goods. I have offered £50 then £25 a week for 7ish weeks a smaller payment on the 7th week obviously. It's a different account number to the council tax I pay now.
Will pm you about the DLA when I have 5 minutes if that's okay? I'm worried about if it means I'll need to switch to UC too? So confusing.

Bright and dry here again. Still quite cold though.

That sounds like a good plan, Wannabe.
Nice and sunny here too - hoping to do a bit of a walk myself.
