Good idea to do parents evening on the phone :) x

Seconded especially if you'd all have to come home and go out again in the cold especially the wee one.
  • Thank you :)

Floors and things done. Meds given and waiting for her to fall to sleep.

Have put another coat of filler on some of the worst places in the girls room so tomorrow I can start the painting. I need it done for weekend! DD is having a friend sleep over for her birthday.

Tomorrow morning's appointment is in town. First thing. So will call in Sainsbugs with the giftcard to get the icing and things for the cake. It's only been on my to do list about 3 weeks! :o

I've spend far too long looking at bedding and curtains on eBay this evening! But I will look in the charity shops in town tomorrow too ;)

If you are looking in the charity shops for your bed, don't forget you can get the base from the shop and have a new mattress for it if the mattress is showing any signs of wear. As I think I said before, people who downsize to 2 bedroom sheltered accommodation often buy a new bed for their second bedroom and it gets used fewer than 10 times before the elderly person needs more care and goes to greater support in a home. Lots of bargains here where people retire to! Don't forget to ask if they can deliver or know someone that does it for them

Morning. Hope all is well and DD is on the mend. The phone appt for parents evening is a brilliant idea. We used to sit for ages knowing we'd be told "a little bit quiet, but absolutely no problems". And that was pretty much it. :o

I like looking at 'pretties' when I need something. Did you see anything that you liked?

Painting a bedroom while DD isn't well seems a lot to take on to me, but you're a couple of decades younger so I'm sure you're up to the job :rotfl: You're a glutton for punishment aren't you. :D That's definitely another sleepless night ahead of you this weekend with the sleepover ;) Lots of fun for DD though.

Hope everything goes well at the appt. I'll PM you later. xx

Appointment 1 done, just having a cuppa before number 2! Then back home to wait for the nurse coming to see youngest.

Thanks for all the replies, I have looked in the charity shops but they seem expensive :o Some even more expensive than new! No beds though in the real local ones. I will look when I'm in big town today.

MP will get involved again if needed. However we actually need an appeal date first, it seems from word at SA it takes months and months

  • Have a good look at the makes of the beds in the charity shops too WF - if you can get a better make for the same price as a new one it could be worth thinking about as it should then last longer - the example given above of a double that was an "occasional use spare" could get you something pretty much unused, which then gets you 8 - 10 years from the mattress, and a more substantial and solid base which will also last longer than one of the very basic ones.

  • Have you thought of Freecycle for a bed.My friend got rid of one on there and was inundated with enquiries. The only reason she wanted it gone was it wouldn't fit into the spare bedroom.
If you managed to get one with a decent mattress you could just get a mattress topper. Some people are happy to deliver as well.

Thank you bed is sorted or it will be tomorrow when I go and order it, I don't think I will be out of parent's evening in time tonight.

Have called on someone to sit with smalls why I go, I don't want to miss it and can't be done over the phone for the three of them.

Youngest seems more 'coughy' today so hopefully it's loosening up, think we need anti biotics now but have agreed to hold off another 24-48 hours and see. She already takes an antibiotic daily so I don't like jumping in too quick with more. She's slept all day though  That should make tonight fun!
