Step 1 was finding out exactly what the debt breaks down as.
I owe £607.93 to rent arrears and £509 court costs. Overall total is less than I thought I have no idea why but I won't argue
They've agreed once the rent arrears are clear the changes that need to be made can be. The court costs will remain unchanged but that isn't an issue. I can continue paying those under an agreement.
This 'half's' the urgent worry. From £1250 to £607.93.
I have asked for this to be sent in writing. So when the time comes there is no changing of goal posts.
Now I'm away to do some cleaning and sort something for the smalls dinner. While thinking of plans to sort this and achieve something I've been told won't happen. But IT will. Because that's what I'm like
Didn't get this far by giving up. No matter how much I feel like giving up right now.

That's great news having an actual figure for the rent arrears. You are getting very close now. Do they pay the rent arrears first and then the court costs at the end?
I am totally with you on the taking out a loan to get rid of various things. I keep thinking about it, and I know full well that it's the wrong option. I can understand though the appeal of having a worry removed. You've done so well so far though, and by building up a 'pot' for overpayments you will have it cleared in no time.
I also think it's a good idea to get the solicitor appointment if you can. Sometimes just knowing the actual situation can help reduce the 'what if' type worries.

Just catching up with your day. Excellent news that the actual arrears are half of what you thought and will be paid off in 6 months, possibly sooner. It must also be a huge relief that they've agreed to change things when everything is cleared. I can only imagine the stress of having certain things hanging over you.
Think the pot idea is a really good one rather than paying it off the rent directly. Maybe you could even do a monthly extra payment if you'd like to see it go down a bit quicker, then start your pot again.
I would definitely go and see a solicitor. I'm sure knowing exactly where you stand will be a massive weight off your mind.
You're much nearer than you think to sorting everything out so keep going. xx0 -
Jwil the payments go straight of the Rent arrears first, the court costs are last.
I'm not going to pretend the loan idea has just disappeared. Even more so now it's for half the amount. I really don't think I'll get one from anywhere though. Even the really bad places. I know I'd still owe the debt and it would be more with interest but it would lift a lot of the struggles behind the scenes and make my MH much better. Still doubt it's an option.
Thank you SusieT
and thank you Tea have a phone call with someone else tomorrow about where things will go once it's paid. Although after speaking to my housing officer today I think I have nothing to worry about once they are paid.

Yeah Abba, it also solves alot of other issues with him too once he's off the tenancy here.
The court costs could be repaid at a lower amount than £25 a week if needed to. It would go back to what the court set rather than the HA wanting the arrears paid if that makes sense.

WF - it wouldn't, you know, it will just mean you're worrying about something else, and struggling more for money than you are currently as well. Also dealing with people who are going to be a whole heap more unpleasant than the HA will ever be.
PLEASE under no circumstances do ANY more investigation about getting a loan to pay this off - after all your hard work to get the Smalls & yourself into such a better position, it would be a shame if you took a giant step backwards at this point.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
