But I received a birthday gift this morning and have paid the last council tax debt off.

CONGRATULATIONS ON PAYING OFF YOUR COUNCIL TAX!
    :T _party_ :beer: :D :cool: :shocked: :kisses3: :blushing::lovethoug_party_ :dance:

And a celebratory :coffee: (not in a paper cup :rotfl:)

I'm sorry about your banging head, though. :kisses3:

    May I make two suggestions:

    1) As soon as financial possible, treat yourself and the smalls in some way (a takeaway?) to congratulate yourself on such a massive achievement. I really think you have to reward yourself every time you hit a big milestone to mark the occasion and keep yourself moving forward.

    2) Before you start attacking the rent arrears 100% please consider creating a baby emergency fund in case of an emergency (DD2 health emergency, DD1 needing new shoes, the washing machine going or similar). Given DD2s health, this is likely to be needed at some point so it's a good idea to have it to hand and most of all, I think it will give you a massive sense of peace and remove some of the stress for you to know that if something happens you have a few pennies between yourself and the wolves at the door. (Would £200 do it, do you think?)

P.S. Ask the council for a receipt letter proving that the arrears have been paid off IN FULL for that year and guard it for the rest of your life!
Debt: £11,640.02 paid in full! DFD: 30/06/20
    Starter Emergency Fund (#187): £1000/£1000
    3 month Emergency Fund (#45): £3300/£3300

Two down one to go :j I'm betting the rent arrears will be gone before the official date as well, although don't put yourself under any pressure to do this. Maybe you should give yourself a bit of breathing space for a few weeks now; treat yourself to a paper cup of coffee every so often and the smalls to the odd treat.

PB's suggestion of an EF is an excellent idea. It's amazing how having some money put to one side can make you feel more secure. I'd definitely try and start to build something up if you can.

Anyway, well done on all counts. Great news that you also have somebody to talk to in RL, hope you can build on that for the future. xx

I received a birthday gift this morning and have paid the last council tax debt off.

That is fantastic! :T:T:T Just amazing. I take my hat off to you.

Kind of like a really special early birthday treat to yourself and the children - and don't you all deserve it!

    Well done that lady. :)

Ooh, and Sashybo - glad you liked the cake! I don't think I've tried it with apricot jam, my favourites being blackcurrant or black cherry jam, or buttercream (chocolate or orange) but maybe I should be adventurous and try other flavours? There are plenty out there and I love apricots.

I made the recipe into 12 muffins today. They have extraordinarily amateurish icing on because while I can bake, I can't decorate, but they travel better as muffins. (Bake about 20 minutes).

Thank you all so much, such a relief it's gone. I will be sorting the other things noted - emergency fund etc but right now I can't even think about it :o Soon as there's head space it will be worked on. Youngest has some things coming up taking up a lot of thoughts and things. All will be sorted.

Tea RL 'friend' will take a long time to trust. Meeting for coffee as meeting on neutral ground is best :) Something else to work on. Trying to keep it up as it's so easy to jump back in to being happy on my own, in my own space. Could happily never leave the house again :o

Sashy I haven't yet as I need some ingredients. As soon as I have them though I will be :p

Definitely an early birthday treat. So grateful for everything that's happened over the last few weeks.

Thank you again for all stopping in, cheering me on and all the help

    Morning :)

You're definitely on the home run now :T Taking a bit of time to gather yourself and let everything sink in is a good idea.

Meeting on neutral ground is always best if there are things that need discussing and working on so that's a wise move. Even better if they're stumping up for the coffee ;) Don't let go of the fact that as much as it would be easier for you to have somebody in your life, that you've actually coped remarkably well over the past few months with everything. It might seem like a good option but don't let it be at the expense of your health and mental well being. That probably reads wrong, but I think you'll know what I'm trying to say.

In the meantime, getting out of the house, talking and having a coffee sounds good :) Have a great day. x

Massive well done on clearing the Council Tax arrears :T:T:T:T

Glad that DS enjoyed his trip too, despite bringing lots of mud home :)

Have a fab day today xx

Morning W, hope your coffee goes well this morning, it's so easy to retreat into your "safe" space. Mine is at home too, probably like most people & I have to force myself out every so often when I'd rather potter about in the house.

I usually go out during the week for DS's sake rather than my own (although it does help me sometimes too to have a change of scenery) - I don't want him to be a hermit/unused to socialising with other children.

That brings new challenges i.e. new environments/playgroups etc which makes me feel pretty anxious & having to socialise with other parents that I don't know. I find it quite draining sometimes & feel socially awkward. :o Just hope it doesn't rub off on DS. :rotfl:

Cherry orange buttercream sounds amazing! :D

    Afternoon :)

Thank you for all the replies :D

Today's coffee meeting didn't go ahead. However as I was already in town when I found out I went for a coffee myself :o So I did buy a coffee :o I also had my shopping list on me and meal plan so went to get the grocery stuff.

Hope you've all had a good day :)
