She was literally my best friend
She was there through everything the good and the very bad. The most loyal dog ever. Even my neighbour had a cry earlier which set me off again
It's silly things like I needed to go out to the bin and realised I had to go on my own so I've left it and I'll go out to in the morning when it's daylight
I just can't get my head round how different it's going to be now.

She was definitely family, a faithful wee nanny dog, a true friend and guardian to both you and the bairns.
As beanielou said, they are never just a dog. Dogs are family too

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

I know deep down it was the time for her. We have been so lucky having 10 years of happy loving says with her. This time last year when she was sick was the first time she'd ever been poorly. The vet this morning said we where also really lucky she managed a healthy 12 months after them finding the nasty C last year. I think it's just a shock. We where on the field as usual Saturday with her then yesterday morning she seemed quiet and gradually got worse. I had no sleep last night as I didn't want to leave her (and I was worried what I'd find this morning) I called the vet first thing and he saw us straight away as soon as I'd dropped the smalls into school.
I was so embarrassed paying bits of it on different cards and in change etcI really hope none of the smalls need a Dr visit or anything or they'll be walking
Its £69 extra to get her ashes back and I really don't think we will be able to find it. I know I don't need them back but I would have done it.
It just couldn't have happened at a worse time not that there would have been a good one.“Once you hit rock bottom, that's where you perfectly stand; That's your chance of restarting, but restarting the way.”0 -
I'm so sorry Wannabe. Dogs are a special part of a family and their loss leaves a huge hole. ((( hugs)))paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Could you ask to pay for the ashes on instalments? Or if not, could you plant a tree (find an acorn or conker maybe) on one of her favourite walks to remember her by? It might help the children too.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

W, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog.
It must be hard dealing with your own feelings & trying to comfort the kids too.
It's so difficult losing a pet, they are a big part of your life and you obviously all loved her very much.
I still think about the cats I have lost & have a wee cry every so often.I more often smile though & think about the funny things they used to do, animals all have their own wee personalities that you come to know & love.
I hope you can get the ashes back if you think it would bring you comfort. It's so expensive for pet cremation.Fingers crossed Cherry's suggestion of instalments will be possible but if not it's a great idea to plant something to remember her by. :T
We have always picked out a new Christmas tree bauble for each of the cats we've lost. I don't know why but it made us feel better to have something pretty to remember them by. Might be silly but whatever helps.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,591, Car loan 2 £5,773, CC 0% BT £930.
