The thing is they aren't going to get anymore money by sending it to the recovery agent as they'll also see from soa what you can afford so you'll probably find they'll accept whatever you offered the council in repayments.......it's madness xx

They said the new financial year has triggered it, because there's still the £1350 outstanding from over the last 4 billing years then it doesn't automatically continue :(

Along with the change in circumstances with work and things I don't think that's helped.

I'm not sure what to offer either because I have to take into account this years bill will start in April.

I offered £26 a week. Which along side this years bill over £200 a month to council tax but means that the £1350 will be gone in 12 months (if I can add up right :o)

And they rejected that......that's ridiculous wannabe I would ask to speak to someone higher up as most people in your situation get away with offering between £1 and £5 a month xx

  • Hope things with the council tax gets sorted soon. They can't expect you to live on fresh air!

Have you checked you are now getting everything you are entitled too? Do you get carers for DD now?
Hopefully once April comes, everything should settle into regular payments as it'll be a full year on a single claim with out the changes to income, (any over/under payments will have hopefully sorted out) at least then you will know exactly how much you have.

Hope they soon see sense and stop this nonsense. Stay strong, this won't last.

Sorry you are having a tough time with the council. I hope they see sense soon and accept your offer. I think sometimes they lay it on thick to pressure us into finding money from somewhere but I don't know what they expect when the money simply isn't there. Fingers crossed its all sorted out soon.

Have sent more info over to council and asked them to accept the £26 a week. I guess I just have to wait now again.

Have bought youngest's birthday gift today, well my sister arranged it from a FB selling site and it's being delivered. All for £10 and it is perfect! She will love it. I'm going to clean it all with sterilising fluid and decorate a box to put it in. So I need to make 2 boxes now for both girls. Might see if the corner shop has 2 empty boxes :rotfl:

Card shop order arrived today so cards, balloons and banners are here. Oh and candles!

Think other than DS's trainers I'm done for birthdays. Left the most expensive until last :o

Are your claims in for Council Tax Benefit and Housing Benefit?

If you are claiming Carers and Income Support then you should get Council Tax Benefit to cover all or if not all then about 95% of it so hopefully your bill going forward will be much lower.
