and up-sell overpriced HDMI leads and insurance cover and a myriad of other stuff you didn't know it was necessary to have to fully enjoy your new TV. :rotfl:

they do also have pretty much all of their products out on display for you to look at/touch. Sales assistants are available to show you the specifics of a T.V. in comparison with Argos who have a load of tablets to look at products on and tills to pay at. While I appreciate this doesn't much help online shoppers, for those who want to see the T.V. with its factory settings slightly edited or whatever it is possible to do this before taking the T.V. home (provided of course the item you want is available at Currys)

That's about the only thing curry's are good for is to look at a TV you want to buy before you buy it online at a cheaper price.

Their sales staff are pretty useless and they don't seem to hire people who know about electronics and don't appear to offer any training above selling expensive HDMI cables.
I once went in their with my grandmother and the sales assistant attempted to sell her a £50 HDMI cable as it would provide a "better picture quality". I then went on to explain in detail the difference between analog and digital signals and how their could not possibly be any difference in picture quality compared to standard cable. But i bet they continued to try and sell the cable to every customer after that.

Another time i went in their with someone looking to buy a TV as theirs had just broke so wanted one straight away. After choosing 3 they were happy with and wanted which were all found to be out of stock we asked for a list of TV's in stock. It's surprising how few they actually had in stock of the ones on display and the excuse was that they were not buying in new stock as they were anticipating new models being released soon.
But they did offer to have the TV delivered in a few days. But what would the point of that be when you can get most TV's cheaper and delivered quicker from online retailers.
The person then went on to buy one of the TV's from Argos who actually had all the ones they checked in stock.

You mean Argos who devote most of their store space to storage? Who would have thought they held more stock...

So you would expect to go into a shop like curry's and for most TV's on display to be out of stock because they have a smaller stock room than Argos?. They weren't out of stock simply because people have bought all the TV's. According to them they were out of stock because they were waiting for new models of these TV's so wouldn't be getting any stock of the current models, but were still displaying them.
Argos on the other hand had these models in stock.

So the issue isn't the amount of storage space each shop had the issue is the stock control and re-ordering systems they use.

Well unfortunately I cant speak for every Currys. My local seems to hold a large stock for immediate pick up.
Why would you disbelieve them? did you check back later to see if the stock had changed?

I'm not saying i didn't believe them i just think them not having stock of around 70% of the TV's on display for a time period of a few weeks because they are anticipating the release of new models seems a pretty poor thing to do from a customer service point of view.

Especially when they offer to deliver them from their central warehouse to your home in a few days when most online retailers will offer next day delivery.

So considering they need to be doing all they can to compete with online retailers this seems like a poor policy to have. So it may have just been a comment made by an unformed employee.
I didn't go back and check or pursue it any further because the person got the TV they were happy with from Argos.
