Taken from the Argos website....
Can I return it if there’s nothing wrong with it?
Absolutely! We offer a 30 day returns guarantee on most items. (We’re nice like that.)
Very very misleading. Yes they do squeeze in the word "unused" further down but what does that actually mean and who reads beyond the eye catching headline anyway? Thankfully people are now finally waking up to this con. Just look at Argos reviews on Trustpilot, dreadful!
The whole Argos shopping experience is a nightmare. Poor catalogue or even worse website with often wrongly described items. Queue in shop to hand in order where you get asked a billion times do you want to take out an extended guarantee. Join another queue to actually pick up your purchase. Get home to discover the item is not as described, frequently faulty and available cheaper elsewhere.
The one single reason for shopping at Argos was at least you could return the purchase (after joining yet another queue!). Now that Argos no longer take back unused items, there is no reason for shopping there. For Democracy to work, the losers have to accept defeat.0 -
I can't remember the last time I read so much drivel in one post.Brexit_Fan wrote: »Taken from the Argos website....

"Squeezed in"?
It's in the same sized font as everything else and IMO, very clear. It states that you need your receipt and that goods must be unused.
but what does that actually mean
Are you honestly saying that you don't understand what "unused" means?
and who reads beyond the eye catching headline anyway?
Any sensible person who wants to take responsibility for their actions and safeguard their money.
Thankfully people are now finally waking up to this con.
What con?
The con of a company going beyond what they are legally required to do?
Just look at Argos reviews on Trustpilot, dreadful!

So if it's cheaper elsewhere, why wasn't this discovered beforehand?
Sorry, I forgot. People don't want to take responsibility for their own actions or inactions.

Of course they take back unused items (with a couple of exceptions for hygiene reasons)
there is no reason for shopping there.
So don't shop there. I'm sure that you won't be missed.0 -
I see we have Argos employees on hereface to face with the same arrogant twit0

Many thanks for all of your comments.
I work away from home and live in my caravan during the week so wanted a bigger and smarter tv. I'm limited for space so the tv stand became a contributing factor in my choice.
I have two quite big Samsung tv's at home which I like but could not find a 32 inch one to sit on my Humax box.
So decide on this Sony rubbish.
I watched Blue Planet 2 last night on BBC HD and the different shades of blue sea were very pixelated. Never had this on my bigger Samsung tv's.
So Sony and Argos can go where the sun doesn't shine in the future.0 -

Sorry jevy47 to hear that you are another victim of atrocious Argos. If you look on numerous other forums including this one, Trustpilot, Facebook etc you will see there are literally thousands of people who will never shop at Argos again, many due to being duped by their "We offer a 30 day returns guarantee on most items" scam.
As mentioned previously, if you have had the item for less than 30 days and it suddenly develops a fault (nudge nudge, wink wink), they would HAVE to offer you a refund. I'm not recommending you accidentally pull out a wire or something similar, BUT if you look at the forums/Facebook/Trustpilot etc, this appears to be the only way you can get your money back.
For the record, before the "Holier Than Thou" Argos employees come screaming on here "Foul!", I'm not proud at having to take this action, but Argos leave it's let down customers no other choice. For Democracy to work, the losers have to accept defeat.0 -

4 out of 5 on Trustpilot.
Not too bad considering people are more likely to complain about poor service than praise good service.
Yes there are problems but that's to be expected with any large organisation.
PS. No I don't work for them :rotfl:0 -

Brexit Fan, you say that Argos have dreadful reviews on Trustpilot but they have 70% "excellent" scores.
Other high street and online retailers:
John Lewis. 21% excellent.
Currys PC world. 17% excellent.
Tesco. 30% excellent.
Sainsbury. 23% excellent.
Debenhams. 13% excellent
Morrisons. 46% excellent.
M&S. 24% excellent.
Amazon.co.uk. 60% excellent.
Homebase. 33% excellent.
In fact, the only chain store I could find with better scores than Argos was Richer sounds (at 85%) so tell me, if you are going to Boycott Argos because of their "dreadful" score, are you also going to apply the boycott to every retailer with lower scores?0 -
I wonder how many of the positive reviews are inside jobs?:p In the majority of cases when you buy an item from Argos or anywhere else for that matter, if you don't need to take the item back, then you would be happy and leave a positive review.
The test of any organisation is when things go wrong and that is where Argos fail badly. That's why sandwiched in between all the phoney positive reviews are numerous reviews where Argos get absolutely slated, and quite rightly so.
Up and till a few months ago I shopped there regularly, falsely believing I could return an item if I wasn't happy. It was only when I finally had reason to return an item (for the first time in years) that they showed their true colours.
Even if many of the positive reviews are genuine:rotfl:, one day those same customers will have reason to return an item and will then discover the hard way that their 30 day guarantee ain't worth diddly squat. For Democracy to work, the losers have to accept defeat.0
