Hey Poppy, you say that the PIP award is backdated but is that for new claimants to PIP who aren't being reassessed from DLA or for all successful claimants? And if so from what date? The date the application was received?

My partner is in receipt of an indefinite DLA award and is currently being reassessed (paper based) for PIP yet she is still receiving her DLA award whist waiting a decision. If she is awarded PIP at a higher rate is the difference backdated I guess is my question? I very much doubt it but thought I'd ask for clarity.

    Thanks

Those transferring from DLA will not receive any backdated money even if the PIP award is higher than the DLA award.

Once the decision is made the DLA continues for 4 weeks and then PIP starts approximately 4 weeks after the decision is made.

Many thanks for clearing that up.

Help me out here. My colleague had been receiving DLA. HRC/LRM, lifetime award, and after a f2f was awarded 2 points. Needless to say she has requested a MR

Her DLA award ceases this week. Now assume it takes 10 weeks to complete the MR (this is just a figure for example purposes,) does that mean that her award will not be backdated to this week and will only start again if her MR is successful, and from that date ?

If successful at MR or appeal any award will be backdated to the day after the last day DLA was paid for.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.
  • My nephew had a paperbased assessment without even requesting one and he got pip.

This thread is about the disability benefit PIP (personal independence payment). People claim this if they have a disability that affects their daily life. See link. https://www.turn2us.org.uk/Benefit-guides/Personal-Independence-Payment/What-is-PIP

The link you posted has nothing to do with this and is something completely different.

This is not in relation with PIP or benefits, but a right to live in the UK visa based on Human rights spouse laws we had a paper based assessment recommended by a solicitor as the best route to go down rather than a tribunal in front of a panel. It worked, however it took 9 months to process everything.

And has no comparison to a PIP application or tribunal!

Sure you're just on the wind up now
