  • the text said this exactly...We've received the written report of your PIP assessment. We will write to you once we've made a decision on your PIP. As a guide you should hear from us within 6 weeks. You don't need to contact us unless any of the details you gave us have changed. Thank you.!!! So looks like i will still need face to face assessment then? thankyou for your help

No, not if DWP have received the assessment report back. You can ring them and ask for a copy of the assessment report. This will give you some idea what the decision is likely to be because they mostly go with the report.
  • I will ring them, thankyou for your help!!😊
  • just a quick update, so i rang PIPS and the woman who i spoke to didnt even ask for any of my details and said to me because it was the first time iv ever applied for PIPS i will need a face to face assessment anyways, she didnt even take my details to even look into my file or anything!!! Yet i have a text from dwp stating they have the written report, makes no sense!!!

Sit tight and wait for a letter from them. No point worrying over Christmas. Sounds like they've assessed you but could've been sent in error so you'll have to wait and see.

This is incorrect. Paper based assessments are rare but people do have them, even if they're claiming for the first time.

As shel said, you'll have to sit and wait to see what happens. The text they sent could have been an error or worded incorrectly. If the report has been received back then decisions can take 2-8 weeks.

The response from DWP call centres can vary hugely depending on who you are speaking to. If you want to you can always try ringing again, just sayyou’ve Had a text telling you that they have a report and request they send it to you. Alternatively, as others have said, just wait and see what happens next.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

Paper based, Refused PIP, Mandatory Reconsideration Awarded 10 year award enhanced daily living and standard mobility I think I requested a paper based assessment (well my carer did at the time last august 2017) I never had a copy of the report or anything so yes you can have it paper based, but remember that can go against you as well maybe it can be better for them to see how you can cope in an interview environment.
  • Hi just update, i rang PIPS and asked for report to be sent out, and they are doing it, looks like they did paper based assessment for me, thankyou everyone

I was given a paper based decision for PIP (enhanced enhanced) although they did call me to ask a question about social anxiety and I know they spoke to my CPN.

The only evidence I sent was a diagnosis letter from a psychiatric consultant - disassociative disorder, depression with anxiety, attachment disorder, aspbergers - and a copy of my repeat prescriptions.

Now having to do it all again for the ESA50 as I had to be moved onto UC after a change in circumstances (moved house). D'oh!
Debt free, moved, got new stuff for the new flat - got everything I wanted and need - now just saving.
