I’ve been reading quite a bit about PIP over this past few months to help a friend fill in her PIP form, she has bipolar and has difficulty trusting officialdom in general
Anyway I must have done something right, or maybe because of the Governments recent U-Turn on mobility for those with mental conditions or Capita’s current plight, or a mixture of the whole three for Capita have cancelled a f2f and are now doing a paper based assessment
This got me to thinking: in general do paper based assessments tend to be more favourable towards the claimant than a face to face assessment. Yes I know that PIP is not based on your condition, but on how your condition affects you and in an idea world paper based or f2f shouldn’t make a difference, but the world and PIP are far from perfect.
What’s your opinion: other things been equal will paper based squeeze out that extra few points which might just take you into the higher group or if you are fit for it putting your cases at a face to face?
I’m thinking the former

Hello,
I'm a 25 year old man with some psychical but mainly mental health conditions.
I recently pushed for a paper based assessment, sent in a LOT of medical evidence also with recorded delivery with the PIP application form.
I kind lady from independent assessment services rang my carer, my doctor, myself.
I received a copy of the assessment recently and it looks like with the points shes recommended me for enhanced living and mobility!
So DON'T LOSE HOPE!0 -
My most recent existing pip assessment was paper based decision.
I also posted additional doc+nurses/hospital letters.
Got 1 phone call asking why I didn't provide more evidence, I commented that as form specify do NOT provide any evidence which has already been provided -as I had done a few times withAtos non paper assessments.
My paper decisions was fine for M.S. -enhanced living/standard mobility.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -
I've helped nine mental health sufferers with PIP assessments over past year or so using some excellent guides from the likes of Benefits and Work. Majority were given awards based on paper based assessment alone and got DLER awards. If you get the right help, whilst the process and delays can be understandably stressful for the claimant it can nonetheless be relatively straightforward.0

If the letter is from the DWP saying that they have received a written report of your PIP assessment then it sounds as if they have done a paper based assessment.
When did you apply for PIP? Did you ask for a paper based assessment?0 -

Are you 100% sure this is exactly what the letter says? I have to admit that was rather quick.skypink1987 wrote: »i applied for it like 4 weeks ago, sent my forms back and got text saying the have received them on 6th and today i received that text ,We've received the written report of your PIP assessment. I received that same reply as a text message about a week after I'd had my face to face assessment. So yup, looks like they've done a paper based assessment.0
