Package Holiday Compensation / Refund

Its a funny old place MSE. Not that different to the real world in all honesty.
Theres a lot of unwritten rules. Things like youre allowed to complain but its got to be in a very specific manner and if you use certain words your complaint is invalid (mention children and youre hung drawn and quartered!) .
Truth is the OP has a valid reason to complain. I dont think anyone here would be happy with arriving late for your holiday, staff members being rude to you and being assigned the wrong room. Please highlight yourself if you would be happy with that.
However because the OP used certain words or phrases theyve been jumped at at every opportunity (myself included!).
Ultimately the OP paid for something and didnt get what they expected, ok their expectations might be beyond what most consider reasonable but i dont think most would consider the complaints ive highlighted as unreasonable?
Most people dont know how to complain. Or at least do it effectively. Apparently theres some (most of the responders) who wouldnt complain about rude staff and being given the wrong product where as some (op) go the other way and complain about their personal tastes and preferences that bear no relation to what should be provided.
Is it not worth finding the middle ground as to not dissuade genuine complaints and not encourage 'bad' complaints?0 -
That's exactly what I'm doing now, just waiting to see if there are actually any more helpful replies other than 1 on the first page. The rest is opinions of others which don't interest me.
Opinions on a customer service complaint is all you have. Legally they gave you a holiday that you paid for, end of more or less. If you want something better than that, listening to the opinions might get you somewhere.
Germans stealing towels is annoying as, well, germans stealing towels!!!! But that aint going to get you anything other laughed at by the person reading your complaint.
Most people are highlighting something you should take note of. You need to restrict the complain to the problems actually caused by Jet2 or the hotel. Not caused by your preferences. And you need to be realistic with recompense. A full refund for a few rude staff and a bit off a different room, at least from the majoritys reactions, disproportionate.0 -
Noted and agreed to a certain extent BUT I simply said to reference my "review" of the hotel or details of the complaint.
How people interpret that review and which they see the complaints out of that, is up to them. What I do not need, appreciate or think is acceptable is how some people have chosen to respond to this thread, a lot of which has been personal remarks on how we actually ended up spending some of our honeymoon.0 -

How late was the flight? Who assigned the wrong room? Without that info it's impossible to say whether there's a valid complaint about those. Rude is completely subjective and as with all complaints on here and elsewhere we only get one side of the argument.0 -
It doesn't help when you dismiss matters such as price as irrelevant and describe it as an expensive honeymoon. To me that means paying £3000 upwards. If you did pay that then maybe you have grounds to complain but it appears you paid bog standard all inclusive prices and got a bog standard all inclusive holiday0

In 40 odd years of holidays we've had one or two hotels that maybe weren't quite up to what we hoped for, but never once have we had a holiday ruined by the sort of minor details that OP's moaning about.
Most people just make the most of the holiday and enjoy themselves, but wherever you are you always get people whinging about something. I just distance myself from such folk and let them enjoy their misery on their own.0 -

Reminds me of a Nile River cruise we went on.
Yes there was a few niggles but everyone, except one couple, made the best of the situation.
They were down right rude to the staff & made disparaging comments about another group without knowing the full facts. In fact all they achieved was isolating themselves.
Even the tour rep was glad to see the back of them0
