Great Tips... one liners

I was in the wasteful habit of putting a couple of sheets of kitchen roll in the bottom of my kitchen waste crock to absorb all the drips of moisture from teabags, coffe grounds and other peelings I put in, prior to composting it, but a little crumpled up newspaper serves just as well.
And a little china dish contains teabags which have been used once, and can be reused an hour later if necessary. (Although not when visitors are present :rotfl:- even I have to draw the line somewhere!)
Does anybody know whether the outer see-through "clingfilm" wrappers which cover magazines which come in the post are composed of the same type of material whic comes in rolls and can be used in microwaves, etc? At the moment I just put it in the bin because I could think of no other use for it.0 -

Hi. I always save those magazine wrappers to use as fridge/freezer bags. Since I got rid of my microwave in order to fit a breadmaker into the space in my kitchen, I wouldn't know if you could microwave them. I wouldn't want to try though!0 -

Hi Primrose, your used tea bags can be used around plant pots, just break them open. I think it is some sort of plant food - not sure.
I also put some clingfilm mag. wrappers in the bin although I do use some as protective covers for inportant papers os document holders for holiday tickets. I do not think they will be clean enough for food wrappers. If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

Make it do Twice
for example, if having a roast chicken dinner use the carcase as a base for chicken soup, save plastic bread bags for sandwich bags, save old t-shirts etc to make a rag rug with, save plastic containers to sow seeds in,take cuttings from plants instead of going to the garden centre, etc etc"The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0 -
Zara you would probably find this thread useful if you've not seen it already

If you have Marmite or Bovril, you don't need stock for soup. (Or miso, for that matter).0

Sourdough bread is not nearly as difficult as it is made to seem.0
