Get a large freezer from Freecycle, and every so often freeze bedding and whatever. Costs about 10pence a go.
No need then for a boil wash, everything can be done at 30 degrees or less.

After cooking in the oven when I'm finished and have switched it off (in the winter) I always leave the door open to get a bit of free heat.AKA: PC
