Slimming world teaches a method of weight loss, in this case they focus on restricting fat. Keto works by restricting carbohydrates. It doesn't teach you the principle of why it works which is energy balance. When you are faced with a restriction of an entire macro nutrient lots of people will naturally create an energy deficit and lose weight. But there are also those who won't. Whether it is be because of behavioural, environmental, psychological factors. For example some will just naturally eat a few more carbs to replace the fat they are missing out on. The idea of "free food" can also work against some people. On Keto they are told calories don't matter :eek: and eat as much fat as you want - works brilliantly for some yet others gain weight because of few too many bullet coffees...

Love this graphic from examine which looked at the Dietfits trial. A study which compared low fat high carb diets to high fat low carb to see if one was superior. No significance was found between the two approaches. But this graph shows the individuality.

The best "diet" is the one you can adhere to. For some people keto fits like a glove yet for others it is highly restrictive and not enjoyable. Some find that slimming world suits them better. It's all about what works for you.

I prefer having the freedom of knowing my numbers and eating what I want. It's not restrictive when I make up the rules :D:D:D

Having been a serial dieter all my life and having done loads of diets I am now doing Low Carb/Keto. I did Slimming World years ago and it worked great but that was in the Red and Green Days time but only worked the first time. I then did Weight Watchers but couldnt get on with it. Then Cambridge and that worked great.
Back in 2013 I did Cambridge again and lost 3.5 stone. Its a great diet but its keeping it off after thats a problem as your hunger gets switched back on.
Last couple of years weight has been going up and down by a stone. In January I joined a Low Carb/ Keto thread on fb and have lost 12lbs. I have mostly stuck to it with a few meals out and birthdays and if I cheat I get back to it straightaway.
I eat a lot of eggs, cheese, butter, meat salad cauliflower berries, low cal jelly and cream. I buy something called Lavash bread to make wraps and pizza and make a fat heavy cheese sauce for caluliflower cheese. Just had 4 days in Nice on holiday and ate everything I wanted ( chips cake pasta etc )
Back to it today and basically I dont consider it a diet anymore but as the Americans call it a WOE ( way of eating )
My cholesterol is about 4.8, my digestion is great ( I suffer from IBS ) and I feel great. I adapt recipes so OH and I can basically eat the same things.
I would reccomend Low Carb to anyone.

Morning all, we have lost the sun, it rained last night and very windy and blustery this morning so I think that's summer over and done with :(

Nothing new on Marks Sparks - same offers from last week
Nothing new on TCB - same offers as last week
Nectar - a few things for loading to your card.

I've got 250 points for adding fuel and OH has Mikado biscuits - I think they were free on shopimumms once and that's the only time I got them.

200 points for a purchase at Sainsburys shop local

500 points for a Virgin west coast purchase on both of our cards. Are there any journeys cheap enough on the west coast route? Is it even worth doing for 500 points?

Haymarket to Waverley is on both routes so for about £1.20 you get £2.50 base points back (worth £5 if you only cash in on a double up)

Ooo, how do you get the second one? Myself and my husband both have Wuntu, but he can't make it into town today. Last time they did a free cake on Wuntu they wouldn't let me get one for him too, even though I had his code.

This worked for me the other day. I picked up a couple of bags of potatoes reduced to 50p each but had a 3 for 2 sticker on so I picked a third bag up and right enough was charged £1 for all three.

If any of the nw covern sees these please could they pick me one up. My friends son is mad on the stuff, thanks in advance x

Good morning, I have a porch full of my hanging baskets and I'm so glad we brought them in, how windy is it  I would have preferred them in the greenhouse tbh imagine what's crawled off them in the night :eek:

None in the fwood store that i could see.:(

Sorry everyone for not noticing that the Yeo Valley was only online. :o

I've been caught out by COS too. Yesterday there was definitely a free Fage split pot showing, but when I got home to snap the receipt it had disappeared from the app. I've emailed them to ask about it. At the very least I'll be able to get the 50p back which is still on there, but it'd be annoying as that'd mean still paying 50p and I've got a fridge full of yoghurts!!

Fage split pot was still on Quidco clicksnap this morning :)
