Slimming world teaches a method of weight loss, in this case they focus on restricting fat. Keto works by restricting carbohydrates. It doesn't teach you the principle of why it works which is energy balance. When you are faced with a restriction of an entire macro nutrient lots of people will naturally create an energy deficit and lose weight. But there are also those who won't. Whether it is be because of behavioural, environmental, psychological factors. For example some will just naturally eat a few more carbs to replace the fat they are missing out on. The idea of "free food" can also work against some people. On Keto they are told calories don't matter :eek: and eat as much fat as you want - works brilliantly for some yet others gain weight because of few too many bullet coffees...

Love this graphic from examine which looked at the Dietfits trial. A study which compared low fat high carb diets to high fat low carb to see if one was superior. No significance was found between the two approaches. But this graph shows the individuality.

The best "diet" is the one you can adhere to. For some people keto fits like a glove yet for others it is highly restrictive and not enjoyable. Some find that slimming world suits them better. It's all about what works for you.

I prefer having the freedom of knowing my numbers and eating what I want. It's not restrictive when I make up the rules :D:D:D

I've read a bit about Keto.... but it has totally lost me.

If you like a lot of fat and less than 20g of carb a day ie a banana :eek: and a limited amount of protein. Then go for it. If the idea fills you with dread avoid it. Simple :D
Something unexpected happened which made me smile and still continues to make me smile.

Sorry everyone for not noticing that the Yeo Valley was only online. :o

I've been caught out by COS too. Yesterday there was definitely a free Fage split pot showing, but when I got home to snap the receipt it had disappeared from the app. I've emailed them to ask about it. At the very least I'll be able to get the 50p back which is still on there, but it'd be annoying as that'd mean still paying 50p and I've got a fridge full of yoghurts!!

Morning all, we have lost the sun, it rained last night and very windy and blustery this morning so I think that's summer over and done with :(

Nothing new on Marks Sparks - same offers from last week
Nothing new on TCB - same offers as last week
Nectar - a few things for loading to your card.

I've got 250 points for adding fuel and OH has Mikado biscuits - I think they were free on shopimumms once and that's the only time I got them.

200 points for a purchase at Sainsburys shop local

500 points for a Virgin west coast purchase on both of our cards. Are there any journeys cheap enough on the west coast route? Is it even worth doing for 500 points?
