    Engagment ring

Errant son did very well at Selection passed all sections, managed the 5.30 and 6 starts, did without his phone for 2 days and had enough food at meal times :)
He could not go for his first option as perfect eyesight is needed so he was given a choice of 2 roles - he went home with various job descriptions on Saturday afternoon and he was told he had 48 hours to make a decision.
This morning, having done all the research over the weekend and having had several talks with his big brother, he went up to army careers to talk to them, still not quite decided.
He got really good positive feeback from Selection which was very encouraging. Army careers went through his choices again and what other options he had and finally he chose to be an Armorouer - they deal with fixing, maintaining and general maintaince of every type of weaponery starting with the smallest pistols up to tank guns etc

The next stage is phase 1 which will be at the end of February - thankfully well clear of his holiday, Christmas,New Year 3 birthdays and all of the usual frivolity that goes on at this time of the year.

He is now waiting on a call possibly tommorow which will be formal acceptance of his offer.

In the meantime there is quite a bit of prep to be done - he has to keep doing all of the fitness he was doing and improve.
I've also got him an options appointment so he can sort out glasses - only cheap and cheerful ones as he will probably only wear them under sufferance

No news yet from work regarding morning shifts at 2nd hotel so he is at a bit of a loss, not used to being at home so much - the last few weeks he was in work at 3 but now its not until 7 and only then for 4 hours. I dont know how many meals he has eaten today - firstly he just had cereal as he had to be at the army careers office before 9 - about 45 mins away. When he came back he washed the car and then had a massive bowl of mince and tatties left from Saturday night. 2 hours later he was hungry again so a meat and potato pastie went in the oven so he had a can of spagetti whilst waiting for that to cook. Then 2 hours later he finished up the roast pork from Sunday in sandwiches. Soon he will be off to work and will probably have another 2 course meal there.

Dont ask me how I am coping, not fully processed it all yet - a life long pacifist who next year will have 2 sons in the army.
Eldest son was RMP so his was very much a peace keeping role and now he mends land rovers so not front line as such.
Errant sons role will be much more at sharp end.
They never as kids had toy guns, not even water pistols or plastic swords, never did things like martial arts or anything even remotely violent like rugby. Never allowed to watch violent films even.

But there is a purpose to everything and you are only tested with things that you can cope with.
If Errant son comes out with a satisfying life long career then that is the best outcome and thats what we all want for our offspring -that and health and happiness :)

And you say I am worthy of an Eastenders plot.......

    Well done that Son!!!!

I have to admit that your words over only being tested with things you can cope with have come back to me time and time again over the last week.....
There for the grace of God go I at the moment....faced with what could have been I could not have dealt with it.

The engagement ring was first bought out just before my 20th birthday I think....and had a couple of goes at reappearing in the 3 years we were together but never got a placing on the finger so to speak....I always knew the timing wasnt right.

he continued to think what might have been for years afterwards I'm afraid.

I married my OH "on the rebound...."he said and it took him over 15 years to realise that there was never going to be "our happy ever after".
He missed out on so many things...children... because he wouldn't completely accept that I was very happy with the man I have been married to for almost 25 years.

He finally married for the first time 7 years ago...and from what I hear he's been very happy with his wife...she's older than him and it breaks my heart that he never experienced his own children,he would have been the most wonderful dad.
It was because of his marriage that he insisted there be no more contact with me...and that was something I fully understood at the time.

I have since found out however that whilst he cut contact with me,he never stopped contact with others in my family...predominantly my mum whom he visited a few times over the years.(I was always aware that they had a good relationship but until last week I had no idea they had been in contact right up almost until she died 4 years ago)

It's all spilling out now and all for the sake of something I said when I returned the ring 27 years ago.
    Madness.
Sorry that you are having to deal with this, i understand why you had to contact him but you have had such alot to deal with
    Thinking of you x

    Hi folks!

It was all over my Facebook that you had disappeared for a while.

I thought that I might come back for a while and see what is going on in the glitching world!:D

Happy birthday to all the people whose birthdays I have missed in my absence and commiserations to all those who have been going through bad times or lost loved ones.

I did see that someone was gloating over the fact that the spam button works!:(

Anyhow, it's good to be back!:)

I was wondering if the petrol shops would count - probably not sadly.

I don't think they have in the past, it may be in the T&C on the vouchers?
I mentioned to my OH about the coupons and he said it's probably not worth it anyway.

Have just had a look and it does say on the back of the "spend £25" vouchers that i does not include fuel.

    soooooo.. !!!!!!
    Prince's fruit are £1 or 2 for £1.60
    Tuna Fillers £1

So use 2 of each vouchers, 2 tins tuna, 2 tins fruit for free AND 40p off rest of shop. If you have conditionals, use them first to reduce spend required.

Shame Sada don't seem to stock them :(

    OH, to save ink...
    select preview before print.
Print screen (fctn, prnt scr, for me)
Paste in paint, slect coupon only and cut
    Paste to word and print.
Saves having all that bumff printed at topof sheet AND (hisses) "Saves MY PRECIOUS ink"

Salad Tomatoes 6 pack have gone back to 50p in M again, although obviously that won't be updated on the APG yet.

There's not much point telling you about the items off in M as you can't see them anyway. Much of it is as expected but - fwiw - I think the Whole Chicken 1.5Kg (I think that was A's weight) may be continuing and so too may a couple of Colgate products but not ones in the glitch. KTC Coconut Milk is up in price slightly in M - a lot of other KTC products off but the tomato etc. tins now on 3 for £1 in M. Fwiw, Ting Grapefruit and Old Jamaican can mbuy (330ml) probably off and Yorkshire Baking Parkin Twin Loaf Cake most packs flashed at £1 but will probably go through at £1.50. There is no chance for me to put the last list back and update it tomorrow, so it will not be on this thread until near the end of the week. I will update 'manually', offline and using good old-fashioned pen and paper, this time and then take that to check on Wednesday and only after then will I be able to update today's information on here.

I noticed some time ago what is now post 2 on here is out-of-date, as Andy Clarke hasn't been Chief Executive of A since 2016.
