Welcome Moguline! you are very welcome to join our band of merry potters :D

Sue our cheeky wee leader is off having herself a bit of family time but will be back soon to allocate you your very own one of a kind, not to be begged, borrowed or stolen! SPC number, for you to display proudly on your signature! She will ask you to take a read of the first post on the first page that is filled with lots and lots of very useful info like, what day we open the tins, how to add a signature and what can and cannot be included in your SPC total.

How you run your spc is entirely up to you, you can just pot away until opening day or pot for a bit then bank (if you don't like the thought of lots of money in your home), but if you do decide to bank some pennies pop the total in your signature next to your SPC number so it doesn't get missed in the end of year grand total!

So for now, grab yourself a money saving device (it can be anything as long as its sealed . . I use old coffee tins with tape round them :rotfl: ) and feel free to tell us all about yourself and pop back to let us know what you have potted cos some of us are extremely nosey and like to know these things (points to herself) :D

  • Thanks so much, JakesMum!
I've got a potting device - it's a metal Disney cars money tin we had lying around. It's not got an opening so will have to be destroyed come opening day! I'm kind of looking forward to that haha!
About me - I'm on a mission to pay off £24k of debt in 2 years, I'm £3.5k down so far and making good progress. This challenge is a way for me to squirrel away a little bit extra just to see how much small change can add up.
  • I've potted £3.87 today. There was already some loose change in the tin, not sure how much, but it'll be a nice bonus when it gets opened ha!

I potted £25 today.Ontop of the £27potted yesterday,I am feeling a little bit rich at the moment :D.It won't be happening everyday, though!it is only because I don't normally work during the school holidays, and I don't normally get paid in cash, but it happened both days,so I decided to pot.

Good luck with your debt free journey Moguline :D you are definitely in the right place for that, a lot of us here joined because we were fighting the debt demons :)

Oooo Saver-Upper, some fab savings right there! I feel the need to find some things to fleabay now, you've made me feel like my pot needs more feeding :rotfl:

2 x £2 coins last night in my pot as one of the parents at DD's karate needed to buy the brown trim that goes round their jackets (each new colour belt has a matching trim and you can't test without it) and the Master had run out so asked if I had any spare from doing DD's that I could sell to them :D

DS turned 17 2 days ago  I am soooooo not ready! He has had 2 driving lessons already and his instructor has told him to get his theory booked as he's looking to put him through his driving test in the next couple of months  He has ridden a motorbike for 12 months so already has road sense but really??? 2 months and he could have his licence? I had to do 40 odd weeks! pfft :rotfl:

Have just rooted round all our coat pockets and have found 80p altogether which I've potted. I know it's only a tiny amount, but it's still better off in the pot than in my pockets haha!
  • Just found another £4.63 in one of my pockets so potted this as well.

Oooo well done Moguline! as that well known supermarket says 'every little helps!'

I have decided its time to stash bust my craft items again *cries* and go through all the clothes and house stuff looking for things to sell. I still have £87 to pot which is a rebate from our electric supplier :D must remember to get it out the bank.

No pennies for my pot today :( I shall have to go hubby rummaging  he must have some pennies, he went to a bike meet yesterday :D

    Hi Everyone

I'm still potting away even though I'm not posting much :) Potted £2 today and will make this up to £5 when I do the weekly shop on Friday.

I've started thinking about banking the contents of my pot as it's quite heavy now and I don't like to have a lot of money in the house even if it is in a tin. Anybody else feel like that? I've got a spare pot ready to use when the old one is opened.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend and the sun shines:j

I have been wondering the same thing lately.I am potting a little differently this challenge_firstly,I never got around to buying sealed tins,so all my potting goes into a tin with a lid on.
The other thing is,because I usually spend allllllllllllll SPC counting-up day counting coins,re-counting,coming to a different tally,re-couting again, and generally getting myself into a muddle, followed by the faff of lugging it all to the bank, this challenge I have been potting more notes, and sometimes in huge lots ((£52 cash last week alone ).When I actually open the tin (to pot),and realise actually how much money is sitting in there,I am a bit :eek:.So I am thinking about banking at least some of it.But I still want the full surprise of opening day.Wish I could do a "blind deposit" into my account,so it was safely banked, but I still don't have any cluue how much.

In other news,I got a £2 coin in my change today,so will pot it on my way to bed.
