More cheerful?
I see plenty of people very upset about the situation.
Furthermore, I have a hunch people like D didn't really consider the effect of their posts on the cheerfulness factor. I think loftier ideals were given priority.I am one of the Dogs of the Index.0 -

Especially when writing on technical subjects rather than fluffy head-patting topics. It isn't being "superior" in attitude to give a correct, comprehensive and factual answer.
I often wondered exactly why he did post so much on here?
Why and how did he have the time to do it?
I sometimes thought the poster might be an investment firm masquerading as an individual incognito.
I also have long suspected that some of the crazy/provocative threads are actually started by MSE staff to "stimulate debate" - and that is the real reason why we never get to hear the eventual resolution of the issue - ie there isn't one as it doesn't exist.
I also worked in a technical field and frankly I never anymore post in forums where my specialist knowledge might be useful
Mainly this is because
1. I'm fed up of being told I know nowt by those who really do know nowt.
2. To truly explain is far too complex to put in a forum message.
3. It's the same questions asked time and time again.
4. Those questions could often be answered if the poster had a bit of initiative about them and gone and done some searching and evaluation. Clearly all they want is to sit there be spoon fed - so why should I bother wasting my time I ask myself.0 -

There are thousands of posts made on the forum every day, it would be impossible for someone to read them all. Also, if we were to read and approve every post, we might become responsible for any unlawful information within those posts.0 -

If that's true then we should all thank the investment firm in question for spending so much of their time to give free information for no return, although I don't know if their shareholders will be pleased. I can't recall DunstonH even hinting that investors should use a particular company. (Contrast that with the number of posters who recommend Vanguard funds at the drop of a hat - and I don't believe for a second that they have anything to do with the firm.)
DunstonH had a very distinct writing style and nobody who read his posts for more than a few weeks would believe that he could be more than one person.0 -
Certain people are anti-IFA and post in a way that needs challenging as what they are saying does not make sense. Such as when there is an anti IFA rant and it turns out it was SJP being used or it is a failure of understanding rather than a failure of advice. Sometimes it is a bad IFA.
Certain people like to wind up others to provoke a reaction. Was that your intention when you posted in a previous thread:
Why don't sharks attack IFAs? Professional courtesy.
IFAs are people that help you with problems you would not have had without them.
Maybe that explains your negativity.
Deep down IFAs are really nice people.....0 -

My sentiments entirely especially so when I hear that he appealed his ban.

Your mother told us he had a very helpful (twelve-inch) member, though she didn't let him use it, as a rule.0
