Goodbye to dunstonh

Seems no longer to be listed as PPR.
Now that would be a right result!
Whether he feels like returning in the circumstances is another question entirely, but time heals wounds, so let's think positivelyThe questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
Many people rightly thank dunstonh for the very welcome help that he has provided to them, and there is nothing wrong with that and I am personally appreciative of all help I have received and hope he returns. I think however posters should remember, whatever their views about the rights and wrongs of this particular situation, they would not have had the benefit of dunstonh's "wisdom" without the hosting of him and others .... and all of us ...by MSE. Everyone benefits and participates as a privilege for which they make no direct payment. That is excellent value in anyone's book. Martin, who started this forum has imho changed the face of consumer savvyness and has probably enriched every one of our lives who post here.
Forums/fora have a set of rules and in my view those fora should be consistant with the sanctions it imposes. If it imposes a sanction on "poster a" then if "poster b" does the same thing then the sanction should be the same and not discriminate based on the perception of popularity or on post or "thanks" counts which it seems many posters are requesting. If MSE did that then there would be complaints.
I think the presumption should be that the MSE "official" who carried out the ban did so in "good faith" and whether it was right or wrong posters wishing to request he be reinstated should be free to say so, but do so respectfully and MSE should be shown some respect, courtsey, appreciation and patience rather than some of the rude assertions about dark motives and "do it now" demands.0 -
Hi everyone
As mentioned, we’ve reviewed our processes in this particular instance and dunstonh should now be able to post on the forum again. There’s been no change to our overall guidelines.0 -

That is the right decision, just a shame it has taken so long. However, I very much doubt that dunstonh will be in a rush to come back and start helping people with the way he has been treated !!??0 -

Thanks Jason. I think that is the right decision0 -

I agree entirely which is why it is so odd that I, and others, committed exactly the same offence that dunstonh was supposedly banned for (being rude to someone who was posting walls of text to drown out discussion of unregulated ultra-high-risk minibonds), and didn't receive even a warning or a yellow card.0 -

Thanks but is there any explanation to what happened?0 -
