Glad my Dad's southerness hasn't effected me like that :)

I really want to start the Slimming world diet - do you guys pay for it or just look up recipes online or something?

I don't go to a group or do on line.

I have just about got my head around the food groups, and try to eat as much super free food, and the rest free... with the occasional Gin... that was the bad influence of a lady on here!

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I would read and re-read the first post, and use receipts on the internet.

  • Evening all....the wanderer has returned.

Sorry to hear you've been ill Kathrynha - hope you're being fussed over. Well done Dusty for SOTW & all the other losers.

Well I tried to be good and food wise I was but a rather large amount of alcohol was consumed so we're definitely into damage limitation mode now.....I did go the gym whilst I was away, went to Zumba tonight for the first time (not very co-ordinatated) will go swimming tomorrow & Friday and have booked to go to a spin class on Saturday before WI.

Food wise will be something out of the freezer - thank goodness for batch cooking

Well ended up back at the hospital yesterday. Did manage to convince them to let me home, but didn't feel up to going to group last night.

Kind of got a plan for today, but it probably won't be stuck to:
    Breakfast - porridge
    Lunch - chicken soup
    Dinner - spag bol

    HA - milk
    HB - oats
Syns - syrup (1), and there will be more

I've started it recently - my circumstances mean that it's not possible for me to attend a group regularly, and joining online seemed very expensive (£70 for 12 weeks I think ) so I just bought the starter pack of books off e-bay and have been going it alone - I've managed to lose over a stone in the first six weeks, though still have a long way to go.

If you get the books from Ebay make sure they are the current ones as things, particularly syn values, change regularly.

You've done really well in your first 6 weeks to lose a stone.

    Having an SP day today:

    B - BLT - HEB + 1 for spread
L - Two pea soup (using dried and frozen peas); should have had some ham shredded on top but DH said the ham at the local shop wasn't very nice so didn't get it. Didn't put the potato in so was a bit thin!
D - pork & herb meatballs in ratatouille sauce. Will do some potatoes for DH to go with it

    HEA - milk
    HEB1 - bread
HEB2 - will have something tonight, either Ryvitas or Alpen Lights
Syns - spread 1; nothing else planned but will need to syn more spread if I have the Ryvita

  • Thanks all for the welcome :)

I'm 30years old, 5"10 and 16st6 at the moment. Work in an office so sat on my bum all day and only just started to do some exercise again each evening, so I know I need to sort my diet too as it has been awful for far too long.

Is it worth me grabbing the books too or just winging it from what I see in this thread and maybe from google etc?

Perhaps have a go without the books first and see how you get on?

The basic prinicipal and lists of the free, Healthy Extra A (HEA) and Healthy Extra B (HEB) foods are given in the first post on the thread, along with links to which free foods are classed as 'speed'.

The main thing I have used the books for is for the list of 'Syn' values in the food optimising book. These are a bit generic - I understand that if you actually join a group or online you get access to a full database of branded goods so you can look verything up.

I'm the same, but then I find I need a group for support too.
I think my consultant said there would be new books in January.
