  • Morning all,

A big welcome to all the new joiners, JAYII, CHRISV, HOLLOWHEAD and DUSTY. Lovely to have you and DUSTY, you sound so positive, I'm sure you can smash your targets. You have done so well to lose so much since April :T

Congrats to all the Slinky nominees and winners. What a lovely feeling. I remember being nominated years ago and I was over the moon!

Thanks so much for the new chart KATHRYN, as ever it is much appreciated and really keeps me on track. The amount we collectively lost last challenge was amazing.

BUBBS, I will be making your quiche this evening. I've been having withdrawal symptoms! Your lastest dinner looked so ridiculously good as usual.

TETE, yes crisps and chocolate are my downfall too, particularly crisps. I could literally eat them all day and then some. Very impressed at your DIY efforts btw :T

Some really good losses recently, GREENTIGER and DAWYLDTHING especially. Good effort.

MRS R, sounds like you had a great trip and lovely to hear you felt fab in your dress.

My menu for today is as follows -

Breakfast - yoghurt with strawberries, blueberries and honey. Alpro dark choc milk heA
Lunch - free mugshot, cheese salad heA
Dinner - SW quiche (with peppers, onion, baby potatoes, tomatoes and quark) with spinach and rocket salad

Syns - honey 2, quavers crisps 4.5, hifi bars heB

    Have a good day all:)

Thanks Kathrynha for doing this again and well done on all nominees ...not that I'm sucking up or anything but if you don't win Kathrynha there's something wrong!

Don't know who I am up against as I was away last week, but there are other deserving members in group.

I've just had my overnight oats and berries and realised every time I have this or eggs for breakfast I feel much more in control and motivated for the day. Not rocket science i know but sometimes i do find i skip breakfast or it creeps into a brunch. So my promise to myself for this challenge is to make sure I make time for a proper breakfast.

It's good to know where you are slipping up, and to challenge yourself to do something about it.

My downfall at the moment is my syns. I eat well all day, use very few syns apart from the ginger sweets, and the sugar coating on my drugs which I don't syn, then I get to the evening, and think I deserve a treat, especially when I am feeling yukky or down.
I need to get in control of this treat. I plan to make up goody bags for myself at 5 syns each, so I can have a treat and not feel guilty, and if I really need it I could have 2 or even 3 without blowing everything.
Just need to get myself a new set of kitchen scales as mine are playing up and I'm not trusting them to be measuring accurately,
Hi! Dusty here,69 yr old grandma, avid reader, and someone who has had numerous health issues the last 4 years (stroke,cancer,hystrectomy,2 knee replacements to name a few!).Almost totally housebound,in pain and depressed,so cue copious comfort eating resulting in a huge weight gain, and I was hefty to begin with.It took a year to get enough improvement in my knees to begin some exercise. Up o being able to walk half a mile now. Doesnt sound much but to me its wonderful. can get out, with only one stick, and can do a little shopping,at least one bag full! lol. It feels wonderful.
I have finally got round to losing some weight, at Slimming World.I have lost 43 lbs since April, and am down to losing half to one pound a week, which may not be spectacular, but is feasible, and hopefully wont lead to regainig it. So happy to get out of the morbidly obese level, have reduced my BMI from 40 to 33. I hope to use this challenge to inspire me,with a mini goal of getting my BMI to below 32,about 10 pounds to lose.
My weigh in day is Tuesday, not so sure if I lost anything this week!
Here are my stats for weight loss this year
    MY STATS
    Pre Slimming World:starting BMI - 40.Weight loss for March/April - 1 stone .

2nd goal - reach my Club 10 target COMPLETED 8/9/17
    3rd goal - get my BMI below 32 (14 st 2lbs)
    ******
    weigh-in: 24 Oct ) - loss: 1 pound
total loss this year 3 st 1lb (43lbs/18 kg)

    Howday everyone.

Welcome newbies. I started it in July after being on holiday (I bought the books on eBay before we went (originally part of mums birthday present I think) as I knew I needed to do something to try and lose the weight as I couldn't do it alone no matter what I tried. My weight either went up a pound or 2 or stayed the same for years. Nearly 4 months in, an odd couple of blips along the way, but i can honestly say it doesn't feel like a diet, more a lifestyle change and change is what it does. I'm the lowest I've been since 2 years ago and now going into new found terratory as I've not been below 14 stone 7lb since I was 18 and at uni (I still have my uni footie trackie bottoms so going to try and dig them out to see if they still fit).

Food plan wise this is what I try and go by (odd times it changes if I pick up extra shifts at work or work funny shifts). I also sometimes have more syns at work as I work long shifts (anyone know what the butterkist salt and sweet 85g popcorn is while I'm asking) like bubblegum.

I've got a long way to go and am not booking the holiday til I've got there, might be a year or 2 but in no rush.

Deja vu - I never used to eat breakfast and I recogn it's one of the things that is helping. When nan used to go to the docs they said to eat little and often and I think it's true

I just use a stockpot and cornflour when I want quick gravy. It has syns but gravy is something you can't muck with.

When I have bones from a joint I do make my own stock in the slow cooker. Bones, onion, carrots, salt, pepper and water (celery would be normal too for most people, but I'm allergic), cook for hours, strain it , add back in the mashed up carrot which thickens it a bit, then cook for longer with the lid off to reduce it down, I then freeze it in useable sized portions.

I still do my nans onion sauce mix with oxo for gravy, produces loads but it's lovely. I think someone said its 5 syns for the onion sauce mix
