Don't think haslet and faggots taste much like each other but that could be because of the gravy on faggots, lol☺! Texture is also very different, particularly commercially made faggots.

Not much control over food today as going to a friend's for lunch and she doesn't do SW so no idea what I'll be having synwise but hopefully not too synful. Will just adjust syns accordingly tomorrow and Wednesday!

    Today's plan:

B - bacon and mushroom omelette
    L - out to friend's house
D - depends on what I have for lunch as no idea whether it will be a snacky lunch or a proper meal. If lunch is snacky it will be gammon chips, beans & salad otherwise something on toast or jacket & beans with salad

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread?
    Syns - ?

Hi, can anyone answer a quick question please?

My DH attended a Slimming World club about 8 years ago and the woman running it was telling people they could drink as much diet soda as they liked a day, she actually said "bucketfuls". It put DH off because he felt that that isn't healthy at all, but is that typical of the advice from other SW clubs? He wants to start going to a dieting club again but he wants to find somewhere with good nutritional advice.

    Thanks for any help :)

dandy - yes and no, the advice is still basically the same but with the proviso that you should only eat and drink Free foods and drinks until you are satisfied - you shouldn't just eat and drink for the sake of it!

SW is probably one of the healthiest slimming clubs around as long as you can understand that you should not just eat and drink until you're fit to burst!

Unfortunately consultants often use the phrase "as much Free food and drink as you want" without adding "until you are satisfied".

I think the wording is better now than it was 8 years ago and the plan now uses different words for the food - most vegetables and fruit are what are now called Speed foods which is what you should be aiming to eat loads of as well as Protein foods.

I think he should go to a meeting, have the new member talk and get the books and give it a go. He should also ask questions of the consultant if he's not happy about anything which is said.

Good luck to him (and you if you do the cooking) If so you will also need to know about the plan as it encourages cooking from scratch rather than using ready meals, ready made sauces and packets etc.

You have some good advice from Denise, and I can add to it, that it is better worded these days, and people manage to follow SW along side other eating trends.
I find in my group there are a few that seem to pretty much survive on SW ready meals and 'healthy' processed foods.
Then there are others that eat nothing processed, and cook everything from scratch.
Then most of us eat a balance of cooked from scratch and processed, accepting that processed is good when you are in a rush or busy.
All three groups lose when they stick to the plan.

My consultant emphasises the benefits of processed and unprocessed, but mainly just emphasises the importance of a balanced healthy diet.

Didn't really get online much this weekend. Haven't managed to stick to plan, but definitely didn't go stupid, so hoping I haven't done too much damage.

    Today's plan:
    Breakfast - porridge and fruit
    Lunch - pasta salad
Dinner - mince, but not decided what to do with it yet

    HA - milk and cheese
    HB - oats
    Syns - salad dressing (1)

I've just come back from a weekend in Switzerland and astonished (and gutted) that I've managed to put on 5lbs over just 3 days. I didn't even go crazy either but the meals were largely bread based I found so perhaps my body has reacted to that.

I was on track to have lost a stone by Christmas too ☹️

I'm going to get back on track today and see where my weight is mid week though I do have a team Christmas lunch tomorrow so timing is not great.

    -1 for me this week.
Pleased with that after a weekend which included alcohol and a buffet on Saturday, and mince and dumpling on Sunday :o
It will probably catch up with me next week :rotfl:

The Swiss diet is very bread heavy, with lots of creamy milk and cheese to go with it. Also if you were up in the mountains fresh speed food is very expensive.

When I have been to Switzerland I have always gained, but found it to be a lot of bloating, and as soon as I have got home and got back to lots of speed the weight goes pretty quickly.

If it's a traditional Christmas lunch then it's quite easy to make it SW friendly! Don't go made on potatoes, yorkies etc and you can do within your syns easily.

  • Well I thought I'd put on this week as I was watching the ashes and had some chocolate coins that I ate as well as other bits so quite surprised to say this week I'm

    -4lbs

Which means I've got to my Xmas target a few weeks ahead (goodness knows how mind) and have lost 3 stone in 5 months :o absolutely gobsmacked, I really am. But other than my advent calendar I've not had many syns, so might be why.

This week going out for Christmas dinner with mum and one of her friends. Swear I ordered a pudding too :/ so will have to see how it goes.

Well done to the losers, we're getting close to targets and some are exceeding them which is fabulous. Keep going maintaining and if you've gained a few - it's all the temptations at the mo.

Talking about temptations this will make you laugh. So we've had a new girl started and she's left a tub of chocs saying 'merry Christmas - please help yourself', it made me laugh as I guess she doesn't like the red ones as there all strawberry lol, so definately didn't tempt me lol
    :T:T :beer: :beer::beer::beer: to the lil one :) :beer::beer::beer:
