Right - up and at 'em! I have lost 60% of the weight I put back on yesterday, back below my target Valentine's weight.

I have been paid - budgets trimmed and another £25 of PB bought.Still sitting at c. -£800 for the month, but this doesn't include £1150 of "off book" savings, or the fact that Mrs E gets paid and we get CB before the end of the month. Still, I'm also trimming with the intention of reducing this, we are nearly 30 days ahead of ourselves on YNAB, at which point I will effectively have a one month EF? At least that's how I think it works :)

Like so many other people, we have uber snow. I am not driving anywhere, but will take DD out asap for sledging and snowball fights!
  • Hello Ed, I hope you don't mind, but you seem a knowledgeable chap and I have a question regarding house buying in Scotland?  I saw a house that was for sale at offers over £270k, but the home report said its value was £270k, so why would you bid more? I've seen suggestions that you bid 10% to 30% more which doesn't make sense to me?  Am I missing something? Thanks for any insight.

Enjoy your day in the snow.

Hi, jumping in to answer.  It used to be the only system up here but things have become a lot more fluid.  You don't have to bid over and I wouldn't go over the value.  My house was up for offers over £180k, I started at £155k and got it for £167500.  My first house was £61995 and I offered £63k and it was accepted.  If you are the only one going for it you will have a bit more choice but if you get into a closing date with sealed bids you will probably need to go closer to 10% if not more.  Does any of that make sense?

  • AJMoney, yes thank you that is very helpful.  It now makes sense that if the property is sought after that you might have to pay more.  Thanks again

The same as you ed, after the weekend. We ran out of yogurt and anything else for desserts so had baked apples and I made a small amount of custard (!) and after watching the rugby we each had a mock-magnum. Scales and I have fallen out and I have yet to check and scrape accounts because of the cricket (!) finished for three days so off to make soup now before dog walking at 11.30!
