Half day was enjoyed (if uneventful). Got a haircut, dropped off a couple of parcels and melted my pores with an instant Chinese hotpot!
I'll be going grocery shopping tonight as well and I have been very well behaved and made my first Black Friday purchase of the year, 24 small tubs of Play Doh for DD's Christmas. If anyone remembers previous years, I have gotten carried away before...0 -
Used to love DS's play doh! That smell!

Argh! Booked a hotel for next year on the basis that I wouldn't have to pay until then. They then tried to charge me 50% deposit, despite the fact that Expedi@ mentions twice the fact that there's nothing to pay until check out. Chancers! They have refunded it, but unimpressed.

Hahaha - mis-spent youth with highly undesirable sub-culture more like it! Though of course I completely agree about KCedinburgher wrote: »Off to Murrayfield for the rugby this weekend, so want to be smart for what passes for a date with Mrs E
What a marvellous woman you are married to. I hope you will be priming yourselves with suitable refreshments (hot chocolate with rum or similar warming substance and a couple of charcoal fisherman's hand warmers were my favourite accompaniments when standing watching live sport that I could not join in with - highly recommended!).
It is hard, resisting spoiling your one and only offspring (says the woman who has just spent £50 refreshing (pun?) her 26yo DS's underwear ). Did you know you can make play doh and colour it with food colouring? I'm sure your little sweetie would enjoy making some next time - not sure how it would compare.
Do be careful with your Black Friday purchases - lots of organised rip-offs in that space this year and lots of trading standards activity around dangerous goods, rumour has it. Always a bit of a giveaway.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

You buy undies for your 26 YO? I knew my Mum was just being lazy! :rotfl:
Don't worry re. shopping, I have spent nowt so far, with no plans to break this trend unless Mrs E has gifts to buy for family members...0 -
I know, I know. It's just that when he comes round and takes his boots off and I can see the threadbare nature of the socks he is wearing, and I have just had a 20% coupon for M&S... I can't resist it. If his socks are that bad, his pants will be the same. I do not need to see them, to just know. So I did it. It isn't regular, but it's just the sort of thing that is so far off his radar that if I don't he will just not notice. Bless - we sure do love our kiddies
Black Friday damage totted up - Mrs E spent £3.39 on a necklace and a multipack of Mini Cheddars and we have ordered a takeaway (another tenner). I'm a changed man I tells ya! :rotfl:
Although mulling over 1/2 price ticket for Pro 14 rugby final next year - cheap tickets are £12.50 :think:0 -
Ah now, the Pro 14 falls into the the entertainment/pocket money pot and it's only just over a pound a month...
Over here; we have just averted a boiler disaster. I never (ever) wash up but I whizzed a couple of smoked mackerel fillets up in the food processor into a simple pate (with some bits I had in), and the clear plastic food processor pots needed washing by hand. There was no hot water. So I asked DH to look and see what the pressure was doing. It was just a smidge below the level where it cuts out (and fuses electric things) so I have just bled the downstairs radiators by 6 pints of water to bring the pressure right down after looking it up on the internet. Phew! That will teach us to put the heating on in the cold weather I suppose.
Just noticed a complete lack of punctuation... so editing some inSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

We didn't go for it in the end SL - sometimes being knackered on a Friday night is a real blessing
I went for my usual run (4.5 miles yesterday), which is essential after 12 hours of clingy toddler time
I did miss one offer on a reduced cookbook that I think will be perfect for a relative with very eclectic interests, but I managed to buy it this morning only marginally more expensive from W0rdery, who are fast becoming one of my favourite online retailers.
DD is off to her Saturday morning class and Mrs E will be coming back for me at about 11 for the rugby. What a difference a year makes! We'll be in the cheap seats today, with a hip flask and our only expenditures will be bus tickets, a small supermarket beer for the bus and perhaps a posh burger for lunch at Murrayfield. It's as much fun as the all expenses version (posh seats, the train and all you can drink beer at the ground), but it saves £70 per person.
Well done on catching the boiler - we had a boiler in our old flat that used to love to do the pressure death spiral. It was nerve wracking trying to resolve it, because it involved gently turning a near-stripped screw to open the valve. Did I mention the boiler was 8 foot up the wall? :rotfl:

Wow! £70 each difference! I feel sure you won't feel cheated for not spending that money. Have a wonderful time!
Very interested in the outcome of you boiler's pressure death spiral. Having just tapped off 5-6 jugs from the radiator in the passage to the back door (brick floor) and turned off the boiler for a couple of hours this morning to repeat the relief fix.
By the way, on recipe books, a friend gave us Veggiestan by Sally Butcher in the summer. I am still browsing but it all sounds fabulous and middle eastern. If you are not already familiar it is marvellously decadent as both a hardback (with a textured velveteen cover) and in content. Worth checking out in a real bookshop. It has an rrp of £25 so not a casual purchase (I did buy "The Prawn Cocktail Years" second hand before I commenced this MS journey. I won't confess how much I paid but it was a lot) I feel slightly embarrassed but I love both.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
