    Yesterday and today are spendy.

Monthly food shop yesterday and cinema today.

I luckily only have a few people to buy for and I force them to tell me exactly what they want as I don’t want to buy rubbish. I also make a specific list, this year it is pyjamas, a new iPad cover, a bag and a pair of wellies.

I still remember when we had the big tree on the town hall, decorated only with light bulbs (lighted streets were strictly for the big cities). On our twice weekly trips to grandma's (mum couldn't afford to feed us all week on the money dad gave her) we would go the 'tree' way round and stop to look up through the tree at the lights. I can still recall the feeling I used to get then and that is the 'magic' and 'spirit' of Christmas I tried to recreate for my children.

I took the two smallest out at 6 last night and had an hour wandering around looking at the lights on the trees and the banner lights in the town centre, then back through the very poor excuse for a xmas market (it is he first year they have done it and I am used to the huge Manchester one) , I spent £10 on gelatos and came home to a warm house. They will remember it.

Love your list! Mine currently has: a new fitbit holder , warm socks and super chunky wool.

  • Still incredibly cold here so haven't been out again. This is not doing much good for the exercise. Promise I'll make up for it when we go to the Lake District.

I have the biggest list ever to do before next Saturday. I have managed to get the washing up to date. At least until I access the boy's bedroom tomorrow.
Roast chicken for dinner and am about to have a rummage in the freezer to see what's there for the rest of the week. Need to use up vegetables or give them to the neighbours - that's not really a problem. One works in a care home and uses anything to make her amazing soup for the residents (apparently it's their favourite).
    Onwards and upwards!!
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

    Hi guys,

    I forgot to update for Saturday so;

    13/18NSDs nsd

Organize - got the mend pile done and put some elastic into pj bottoms that had lost their drawstring.

Value for money -make do & mend .

    Exercise - nothing.

Mental health -I think everyone knew how I was feeling but it wore off by Sat night.

Be Christmas ready - got given some gluten free goodies that I can re gift.

Eat well - shepherds pie & a ton of veg

Thankful for - being given the gluten free stuff & the person being happy for me to re gift them. My kids love & having weekends off.

    Sunday

13/18NSDs got my fresh bits today. I always hold back £10 from my budget to cover Sun & Wed but I don't have this left because of Friday. My daughter has an emergency fiver that she keeps in case she ever forgets her lunch (this hasn't happened for months), she gave it to me so spent £3.79 and have £1.21 left if we need milk or bread on Wednesday. Not ideal but feel like I'm back on track.

Organize - menu plan is up on the fridge. I made a huge casserole & will freeze half, also made 2 chilli pasta bakes, I will freeze one of those too.

    Value for money -nada

    Exercise - nothing.

Mental health - each day is a new day so back on a level today.

Be Christmas ready - nothing today.

Eat well - Lamb casserole, roasties & a ton of veg. I will be partaking in some hot chocolate fudge cake later though (naughty)

Thankful for - hot dinners & fluffy slippers.

    Checking in day 26/30

    NSD -
Scored another today, exceeded my original target, may manage more yet :j
Organise - 4 of us for dinner today, roasted a smallish, odd shaped piece of gammon from the freezer and a tray of vegetables (potatoes, carrots, a parsnip, half a small swede, all cut up into biggish cubes, parboiled for 5 minutes, then tossed in hot fat, seasoned with salt and pepper, scattered with fennel seeds and a couple of onions cut into segments and few cloves of garlic tucked in). Had this with HM quince jelly, cabbage and gravy, apple crumble and cream for pudding, yum! Entertained small GD at the same time as doing this, that took some organisation :rotfl:
Declutter - Used up lots of lurking root vegetables in the roast :D Various bits of paper into recycling.
Value for money - Not today, unless a really cheap roast dinner counts :D
    Exercise - 2 dog walks
Be Christmas ready - Nothing here today
Mental Health - OK today, better when I am busy :)
Eat well - Well, I am quite full up :o Lots of veg eaten though!
Gratitudes - Grateful for nice food, a dry day for dog walks and time to play with 4 year old GD :)

    Day 26

NSD - 14/18 - Not going to hit this, I have been trying to avoid the shops but I won't last another 4 days without a top up shop, I will get close though.
    Food - £124.00/£100
    Exercise - 9/20
    Studying - 15/25
    Clear out - 17/30
    Extra income - £116.47/£100

Going to head over to the new thread in a second, I'm hoping I will have a little more motivation for December. Cleared out smalls room yesterday ready for Christmas and then gave away some of his books to some fellow single mums, I will have to pay postage but I wanted to spread a little joy as I know some of the mums on our group are struggling with Christmas coming up.

Today I am grateful for having such an appreciative child who never asks for much, for not having to struggle, yes I have debt but I'm not struggling too much. Lastly I am grateful for having DS to myself for a whole weekend (he's usually at his dads for part of the weekend).
