  • Day 7 #18 Checking in...
NSD - Will be one today so 4/12
Organise - Our local theatre is showing Home Alone on 23rd Dec. I know its my friends fave Christmas movie so asked her is she would like to go. Put date tickets go on sale in my diary.
Grocery - £73.47/£283. Doing next weeks order tonight hoping to include a present in this as can't afford from my weekly cash budget.
Value for Money - Nothing here for today although arranged with my friend if a certain item we both need for Christmas (she needs 2 I need 1) comes into a 3 for 2 offer we will get them. Although out of stock everywhere at the moment :(
Exercise - Raining here today, my first thought is to park by school at pick up but because of this challenge I will still park further away and take my brolly.
Mental Health - DS woke me up at 2am I took him back to bed. Feel like I had a good run but hoping its a one off. Lack of sleep really impacts my mood.
Xmas/DS Birthday - Starting to think about entertainment and childcare for the Christmas holidays. Pretty much sorted but need to confirm.
Eat Well - Have added a banana to my lunch box today and having chicken casserole and jacket potatoes for tea. Also drinking more water.
Be Grateful - I'm grateful for my DH changing the wiper blades on my car made a huge difference this morning.
Declutter - On my 30 day challenge was coats, shoes didn't think I had any to get rid of but a couple of summer jackets and sandals of my DS have gone in the charity bag. This is being collected tomorrow so won't clutter up the room. No luck on eb@y with them and will be too small for next year. A bottle of perfume I will never wear has also gone. The next area was handbag and purse, again didn't think I would have much but its surprising what you collect in there :)

£20 a week cash budget - still -£6.45 also received another party invite for this month for my DS.

Have a good day, keep warm & dry.
    Lightbulb moment - 17/08/2017 £17,033.  Current CC debt £0.00 DFD 31/7/24 🥳. Member #8 of Fiver Friday Challenge £175/£260

    Hello,

sorry for the missed updates. Have been at FIL's over the weekend. Spendy, kids needed football shoes (JD sale item for DS) and shoes (hight tops for DD, double as winter boots), bought some groceries. Also bought myself some everyday shoes as I had to bin another pair and I'm bidding on some good quality winter boots on eBay :o. I've got mid calf boots that I had for 6 years, have been to the cobbler twice etc but are not watertight. So thought some new ones are justified. Bought some more stuff from the Christmas list (some 2nd hand bargains like a kids camera for DD off eBay).

Went through my clothes and shoes yesterday and will start my :"no-buying-clothes-till Jan '19-challenge" with a delay as I now definitely have enough of everything once I get the boots.

Felt rubbish yesterday and bought a second lunch (my HM salad just didn't cut it and was gone by 11am). Still made it to the gym though for sth easy.

I left my wallet at home so my HM lunch will have to do. Later today I will need to go shopping while DS is at chess to get a wee top up shop (mainly fresh fruit as enough dinners etc planned and supplies in freezer), buy heaps of vodka, lemons and sugar (to make xmas present limoncello), a light bulb etc.

    Hi all :o

Had a fairly productive day- renegotiated sky and got a really good deal. Really pleased with myself haha. Cancelled car insurance as I have found a much better renewal price and now i am off to organise my clothes upstairs. I love feeling like stuff is getting done :)

Be Christmas ready - Lists done in rough (on paper) - now just need to put them on laptop

    Report/ Gratitudes -
    * 3 hours at work today - and finding that the hours from Aug and Sept will also be paid this month (total is only about 15, so hasn't been a big deal)

    * my mum picking DS2 up from the bus stop on her way to here - saving me a journey in the rain :) (bus stop is around 25-30 mins walk for DS2 and it would be dark, hence why I collect him - he is only 11)
    * the garage fitting OH's car in today after a warning light came on last night (diagnosis today and will be doing the actual work tomorrow/ Thurs) Means an unexpected £200 or so spend, but necessary

No NSDs as of yet, but have been productive. Tidied up the house, updated my C.V., did a wash load, caught up with Neighbours (yes, I count that as being productive), did some surveys, feel good.

Need to get a job very soon so I can afford to see my football team lose miserably to Man United in the Carabao cup, tickets go on sale in a week and a half!

NSD again! Well I got milk for work but that will come out Of petty cash. So that’s 4 for me.
Have ordered (pay in December), the Christmas Goodies bags for all the Adults.
Mental Health is probably something that I need to tackle, find my SAD lamp, as dark dingy days are here now.
I haven’t managed to do much else on your list though.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

A spendy day for me. Have needed ibruprofen, vitamin D tablets (mia) and antiseptic cream for about a week and haven't had time to get as far as the shops that sell them at a reasonable price. However also bought a sandwich for lunch (out of bread and sandwich bits but will sort that another day) and had a minor spending spree - £10 roll of wallpaper (restocked with one I love), and two heart shaped tins containing lip balms and toiletries.

They are all things I will use, the lip balms did not cost any more for the tin (maybe 50p if I could have got all the other items at the pound emporium) and I have known for a few days that I was going to spend so I have been mentally reviewing things I have seen in the last 3 weeks so that I would splurge on something I wanted and needed and was useful. I forgot to even look to see if any of the sale items I saw last week were still there but hunted for the things I saw weeks ago (same shop). Total of £22 including the wallpaper, which will have to come out of my Christmas money. Wallpaper is to make posters and may now have ambitions to make some furniture/ storage items from cardboard.

At mum's I have been concreting. Only a space big enough to take a wheelie bin (blue bin is going against the blue fence) but used 2 and a 1/2 bags of concrete mix, 1 and a 1/2 of which were solid (fist sized lumps up to half a bag sized) so spent a lot of time whacking it with a crowbar to break it up.

Mr and Mrs Builder came to fix a minor job for mum and Mrs Buider and I moved a plant from the front garden, took away the pot it was in (buried to the rim) and put the plant back. I have done too much but was determined to finish the concreting.

This evening I have put scarves on 7 snowmen - the snowmen are 3 cm tall and made of icing. Scarves were in roll out icing which was too dry and broke just as I was artfully draping the scaves round the necks. Mum did not help by speaking just as I reached the critical point. She would have complained more but she has already failed to do it and the dreaded Christmas Fair approaches (simplify, simplify).

Very tired and lots of bits hurt but glad to have done the things I wanted to get done. Too tired to worry about 'that which is undone'.

Today I am grateful for finding the things I needed quickly, for mum making the sandwiches for tea (don't think I could have stood up at that point) and for making progress on an item which is a Christmas gift for Beloved.

    Day 7

    NSD: 4/18
    Food: 44.95/£100
    Exercise: 10k Steps - 4/20
    Cycling - 0/10
    Study 1 hour: 3/25
    Clear out: 13/30
    Extra income: £57.10/£100

Another NSD today, done some studying and added to the extra income through eBay and a refund I wasn't expecting.

Tomorrow should be another NSD, unlikely to hit 10k steps though as my studying needs to come first over the next 2 weeks.

Grateful today for listing lots of things on eBay at the start of the month as its unlikely I will get much chance to do this for at least the next week and for some eBay sales and an unexpected refund. I am also extremely grateful for the electrics tripping when they know something is wrong, had the scare of my life this morning when DS (age 4) came running up the stairs to me to let me know that there was a big 'bang' and 'black smoke' coming from the wall. I thank god that he didn't try to touch anything and that it wasn't more serious. It really shook me up and makes this living alone with a child a lot more scary!

Bought the vodka etc for making xmas present limoncello. Should have seen the faces of my fellow shopper watching my 3 year old pushing a trolley with 4.5 literd of vodka .

Also tried making pickles for the first time. Tried 3 that remember from growing up in Germany - mushrooms, green beans and peppers.
