It was nitwits setting up £1 DDs that played a part in sabotaging Tesco DDs.

Has Tesco confirmed that then? Or is it just surmising from this forum?

to them, by them. You lose the £1.

GoCardless is the DD agency they use. Littledebits is just the intermediary.

'Security token' received from Saga savings today- actually 2 x letters with different dates last week! (but luckily the same code!)
    Security set up.
be aware - I thought I had set up a monthly DD- seems not- it was just a one off payment

Saga-Aptly named as it is a Saga to get my accounts open

Got a "welcome pack" the other day-Basically A4 paper with my details on it and a space for my signature.
Claims I have to sign it to open the account.

Rang CS to confirm what this was for as surely I opened this account on-line back in December?

CS girl said I do NOT need a security token thing-she'd never heard of it.
All I had to do was send this signed document back and that would be it.

    Duly signed and sent.;)

2 days later get a "security token" letter :rotfl:

Setup security over the phone. ;)
Asked if I can change the linked account-NO as they need that signed bit of paper :mad:

    !!!!!!

This is a fiasco-And Mrs B has not had any bits of paper as of yet.

If the PO brings out a new saver each month I may not need this Saga account.

I certainly hope so and I will then complain to SAGA as to how ridiculous their procedure is for opening a saving account.

Oh dear, what a sorry tale.

However, as SAGA accounts are provided by Birmingham Midshires you shouldn't really be surprised*.

This account is well down on my 'Only as a last resort, if I can't find any other replacement DDs for April' list:rotfl:

Having said that *, my BM experience hasn't been that bad and their website now seems to be working ok for me on Chrome:o

Really? If they were objecting to amounts being too low, they could simply have changed to asking for a minimum DD amount. But as this wouldn't have made a difference to the determined DD user, the only way Tesco could "help out" the other banks was by pulling the facility altogether.

I opened a Birmingham Midshires account very easily, took about a week or two IIRC to have it fully opened after applying on-line.

If you need SAGA then don't leave it until last minute because I'm now into the 3rd month and it's not open yet.

That really is ridiculous. Sounds like a formal complaint is now due.

Re the Saga Telephone Easy Access. I've got two of these and have just tried to set up DD's to come from one of my bank accounts (re the soon to be defunct Tesco DD's). When I asked for DD's the CS person said they don't do DD's, they're Standing Orders? I asked her if Saga would pull the money each month, and she confirmed that they would. Is that not a DD, as I thought Standing Orders pushed the money from the account rather than a DD pulling it? I thought this was strange as I've got BM accounts and they do set up DD's.
