I just notice you can not set up DD on Plum AC using Metro Bank Account, is that correct ? It says, It is not on the list of Open Banking.

Metro Bank don't support open banking indeed, they got away with it just like Co-op (and Chase, but allegedly that's changing this month).

If my memory serves well I remember in the past Scottish Widow refused to divert my DD from Bank of Scotland to another bank. Has anyone managed to divert the Scottish widow DD to another Bank recently ? Thx.
Also has anyone tried to open Gocardless account recently ?

Also What bout Tandem, Zopa, Wealthify ? How long will it take to set up DDs ??
Wealthify direct debit took absolutely ages to be set up, easily several weeks. Tandem and Zopa are open banking / bank transfer only to my knowledge.

Thanks for the info. Has anyone tried Gocardless to debit personal account ??How long will it take to set it up ??
I remembered people said the chance is they will close your account. But imo if you are just using it to debit a dummy AC for switching as as soon as the switch take place and you will need to maintain for several months, you could add, replace with a proper DD that take time to set up such as those from unused Credit-card.

Plum, Moneybox are well known in this thread. But the problem here you currently can not link Metro-bank account. Ecology BS takes ages to set it up. I personally use Ecology for a more permanent DDs solution for the account that I do not want to switch again. Metro Bank and Monzo are frequently quoted as easy to open bank account to be used as dummy accounts. I have tried to set up DD to debit my Nationwide AC using Plum, Moneybox, although on the list, still does not work.

I think using GoCardless is stretching the limit of being money saving.  I know you're talking about a short term thing but there is a transaction fee on every collection they make, not enough to not be worthwhile but there are easier options for a short term DD whilst you set a more permanent one up.
Plum is fast in setting up a direct debit and collecting it, around a week. It is therefore possible to use Plum to collect DD's from two accounts per month by switching accounts within the app every couple of weeks.  I wouldn't want to do it on a long term basis but in a similar situation to yours I've done it to tide me over whilst waiting for an Ecology DD to be set up.
