  • You definitely can - once when we were students we went to Pizza Hut for a special treat, and when they brought our pizza out they said it wasn't up to standard, and they were making us another one, but if we wanted, we could start eating the substandard one (?!) Made no sense to us, as the 'substandard' one was perfectly nice, but of course, when the good one came out, we were full, so we took a full pizza home with us! It was very nice the next day, and all the nicer for being free :)

Make sure any meats are reheated thoroughly, other than that should be ok if kept cool before reheating (if kept warm the bacteria in the likes of cheese goes crazy)
One day I might be more organised...........

homemade are tastier you know and you know what's in/on them. You can also make more dough and sauce than you need and freeze it- I am just defrosting some dough now for a pizza tea tonight- this is money saving after all! ;)

I use this recipe and my BM to make the dough so it's no hassle at all.

I didn't know where to put this, but thought I'd share it becuase it was so delicious. We had a HM pizza last night in the style of a Dominos Double Decedence base Texas BBQ one, using some of the leftover chicken from Sunday lunch.

    The Base -
I made the a base by stretching the pizza bases (x2) out to about 35cm rather than the 20cm it recommends, then spreading some garlic & herb soft cheese on one and putting the other pizza base on top. I baked this for about 5 mins on one side, then flipped it over for 5 mins on the other side while I got the toppings ready.

    The Toppings (sauce)
I made the sauce by mixing tomato puree with passata & some oregano. Made the BBQ sauce by mixing ketchup with a bit of brown sauce, some Worcester sauce & a little bit of BBQ steak seasoning.

    The Toppings (stuff)
I topped the pizza with a tiny sprinkling of grated cheese, then some chopped onions, mushrooms, peppers, a chopped up slice of streaky bacon (1cm pieces) and leftover chicken before 'dribbling' the BBQ sauce over the top and throwing some more cheese over it all. Bake for 20 mins until the bacon is cooked and the onions are soft. Eat.

It was gorgeous and everything was already in the house so saved myself £14 (probably £20+ because I can never resist buying the chicken strips & wedges too)

And I've still got some chicken left for a pie or something later :T

Thanks for that, you have just given me an idea.
A bit back, I bought some ketchup, brown sauce and barbeque sauce from bookers. They were the 'chefs larder' range....Bookers cheapo catering range.
They are in 1litre squeezy bottles, like you see at a burger van.

Anyway, the barbeque is delicious and really like the Dominos one.

Ooo, home made pizza for tea this week.

Now I realise that bookers is a card based/business cash and carry, but possible Macro or Costco might have the same sort of sauce.

(do anyone else ask dominos for extra bbq sauce on the pizza)

Yeah, a lazy sauce for pizza topping I made up a while back (instead of using a tin of tomatoes - or even sliced real ones) was to use tomato puree which I thinned down using soy sauce* and then just added a sprinkling of mixed herbs and some garlic granules.

    * I thinned it down to about the consistency of tomato ketchup.

Must admit I like the look of the sauce in the first post too. Hmm... note to self... :)

I want to make some basic (VERY basic) pizzas. Just tomato sauce base, topped with cheese/onion probably.

But I don't want to buy/use real garlic because I bought some once before and never ever used more than 2 cloves out of the whole pack.

What can be used instead of actual/real garlic? I was thinking something in the spices range might be right, but didn't want to buy entirely the wrong thing (e.g. I'd be stood at the spices looking for anything with the label of "garlic" on it).

I want the smallest/cheapest way to achieve this since I am unlikely to ever make a pizza sauce again to be honest but have these 4 bases I bought that need to be cooked up somehow.

In my whole life I have only ever once bought garlic, which I then chucked out 1 year later. I am not a big user of all these faffing about bits and pieces of ingredients to cook. I like to keep things minimal as a rule.

    Thanking you in anticipation.
