If it's a pretty plain pizza I just spread the base with tom puree and add cheese, whatever toppings, sprinkle with herbs (whatever you fancy) and a little drizzle of olive oil. Garlic isn't essential.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070

You could just buy a small tube of garlic puree - you'll find it near the pasta cooking sauces with tubes of tomato puree. It's easy to use & keeps for ages so you might even be inspired to use it up in other dishes like stews & casseroles, bol sauces etc.
I use garlic a lot in cooking but don't always use fresh, this is a really good standby & you get the taste without the messing about. I always have a jar of lazy garlic (chopped garlic in vinegar) in the cupboard as well but there's a lot more of that & it's more expensive.0 -
I very often don't use garlic. I simply simmer a tin of toms till they are thick. When they are cool I spread them onto the base and cover it with whatever I have - usually bacon bits and sliced tomatoes and then sprinkle it with cheese.0

I tend to use garlic powder. You can just sprinkle some on the top. It's great for making cheat's garlic bread too, just butter some bread, sprinkle on the garlic powder and grill.0

Garlic granules are stronger than powder, also garlic puree or lazy garlic - about 60p in home bargains!0

Agreed.
I use loads of this stuff - note: NOT garlic salt but just powder. Lidl sell it in a shaker.
As far as I can see, it can be used in virtually every cooking situation where fresh garlic is called for and is indistinguishable in the final result.0 -
As above, garlic puree or powder. You can also sometimes get tinned chopped tomatoes with garlic.
Alternatively, of course, start eating more garlic. It is very good for you, although those around you might not be so keen on the idea. "An apple a day keeps the doctor away but, for real solitude, try garlic".The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
I use garlic a lot and it really is good for you in various ways, so it may be a good thing for you to experiment with it in various dishes as mentioned before.0

What if you buy one clove of garlic. Put in the blender and make it into a paste, you can then use what you need to and freeze the rest for the future.
This is what I do, although, I use garli everyday in cooking, and so tend to bulk buy and freeze.

Your local chinese/indian shop or market stall will have jars of Garlic paste (minced garlic in a little water/oil) which keeps indefinitely (well the jar I'm using currently is BB SEP09). Very reasonable a 200grm jar is 99p.0
