What small DFW things will you do this week - w/c 23rd of October
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Morning all :hello: thanks for starting us off 1LL wow that’s some list. I’m working today but need to look after smalls this morning as they are on an inset day and DH has been on nights. Think we’ll go for a quick walk in the woods and a hot chocolate. Worked loads yesterday to catch up. Other things:
Strain stock made in sc overnight from chicken carcass, put risotto on meal planner for the week so I don’t have to play freeezr Tetris with the tub
Put stew in sc for tea added scrapings of a jar of chutney and some pearl barley to pad it out
Washing on airer inside, put another load on
Take snacks with us if we pop out
Get ready for work/school tomorrow need to pack bags and lunchboxes
Still drinking yucky instant coffee to use it up
Check fridge is all ok and nothing needs using
Maybe make a coffee cake if it has a good wallop of instant coffee in
Check baking, surveys and FPL.
Right I’ll be back later. Purps.0 -
Morning
thanks for kicking off the thread 1LL
you do have a rather long list! Hope DS is settling to school well
1st day of holiday and I have woken up feeling really groggy! I slept for a ridiculous amount of time yesterday! I had a nap about 5-7 then went to bed about 8.30 and slept till 8 this morning!
Not sure what my plans are today as my db is popping in around 2 so likely we'll just have a mooching around day. Think I'll take madam for a little walk as she wants to walk her babies
All meals from stores - check meal plan but we do have a lot of things lo from dinner yesterday so it will incorporate that!
As my bro is round better do a clean through - my db and sil are the kind of couple that their house is already 100% clean and tidy, they have a lot more money than us so their things are newer/better quality and I always feel like I have to make our house look as best as I can when they visit!
Knitting
am at the heel already :j so this time it took me 2 days from casting on to getting to the heel, whereas with the 1st one I think it was about a week - I'm hoping to finish the 2nd sock by the weekend
List a couple of things on fleabay - I bought 2 of one of this year's top Christmas gifts (that are currently OOS everywhere) and am going to put one on fleabay to reduce the cost of the one for madam - I'm mega risk adverse so hoping it wasn't a mistake! I also don't want to rip people off so might put it on the local facebay page as then people won't have to pay postage or ebay fees!DF as at 30/12/16

Morning folks
#Monday Monday ahhhhh ahhhhh ahhhh ah ahh ah#
Maria, I hope your OH recovers well
Hugs to anyone who wants or needs them
Day 1 of long days was ok. OH came to meet me from work so it was nice to have some company on the walk. The meal prep was nice and quick. I accidentally cooked too much rice so there are 2 more portions of curry and 2 more portions of rice in the freezer.
yesterday's round-up:
Meals from plan - done
Work first long day - done
charge phone in work - done
Bit of crochet on m-I-l's Christmas present - done
walk to and from work - done
Not going out anywhere! - done
Update budget sheet and pay off holiday cc. Slight overspend as they had OH's fave aftershave for only £27 a bottle. - done
look for high protein, low cost recipes. Poss meat free or low meat. the food spends are getting silly. Unfortunately we have popped ourselves into an awkward position of buying high welfare meat and a fair bit of organic (and non-supermarket) veg. I need to start looking out for ys bargains but I find that our Asda is pretty pants for them. At least, pants for reducing things that I would want to buy or to a price that made them worthwhile. - done
Email the gym about incorrect payment... yep it's wrong again! - done
Ask the good folks on Ravelry about a crochet pattern - I'm struggling with one line of it. Just doesn't make sense! - done
Today's mission:- Meals from plan
- Walk to and from work
- OH working. His mum to pick him up and drop him off
- Gym at lunch time - erm gym apparently closed?!
- Log cals in free app - done
- Check for ys items on the way home from work
- Work long day
- Crochet m-I-l's pressie (works up nice and quick but am not loving making this pattern.)
- Charge phone in work - done
- ring doctor re prescription
Have a good one all

Morning all - sorry for being AWOL last week, I was off work and took the opportunity to enquire about a gazillion houses! We have hopefully found the perfect one and will be viewing it this week (once dh has pestered the estate agents all day!)
DFW bits for today:
- Pick up free teas that my mum got at work (she doesn't like them and kindly passes them on! - DONE
- Take curry out of the freezer for tea - DONE
- Washing to hang out
- Load of washing on quick wash
- NSD
- Finish listing old book club books on eBay
- Reduce price of non sellers on Facebook - DONE
- Survey check - DONE
- Post eBay parcels
That will do for today. Happy Monday everyone!0 -
Good morning everyone:hello:
Thank goodness for half term:)
Ok, I need to save some pennies and hopefully make some more too this week....here’s a starting list:
* check swagbucks and onepoll throughout the day
* write a shopping list...L1dl visit later
* check banking...I don’t want to, I’ll be near the o/d limit no doubt:o
* make a meal plan for this week
* bake some treats...use up old bananas in a banana loaf
* no heating on...house is baking
* list some items on eBay
* wrap up the eBay sales I didn’t do yesterday and post them
* put away washing that’s currently on the airer
That’s all for now:)
I also need to think about contacting the cc companies - I am on such a low income compared to just a few months ago and I just don’t have spare money to pay everyone. I have £1200 coming in....and rent alone is £775. But, I can do it, we’ll be fine:D
Have a good Monday!I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -

You never have to apologise
I often find it amazing how many people are happy to let others pick up the burden of care (I don't mean to suggest your mum is a burden). I have a work friend whose m-I-l has dementia and he and wife commute from EDINBURGH to WALES to help care for her, while b-I-l lives about an hour away and hardly lifts a finger.
We saw it with my b-I-l when m-I-l had her op. I took a week off work to help care for them. B-I-l literally lives around the corner and did nothing. Didn't even do the bits that they asked him to do.
I'm getting off the soap box now. I hope you find some time to rest and recuperate. You know where we all are
