Decorative Stones - Retailer saying it's a natural product

I agree there is a problem if it won’t wash off but so far OP seems reluctant to try or even believe it will work. All it will then take is to scoop out the small affected area of the one bag and B&Q can probably replace that small amount with one of their individual 10kg packs not swapping an entire tonne sack.
As stated previously it's cross contamination in the whole bulk bag, so scooping it out isn't possible. We initially thought it was just on the surface, we creamed that off, but it kept on appearing.0 -
Firstly not in the white and secondly, yes of course there are cheaper products but they will be lower quality hence the more expensive one being the premium product which just goes to show that your one wasn’t premium.
I haven't done a thougher search for the products in your link, but you'd be surprised the price you could get the same product for.0 -
I think your expectations are too high, when i used to do landscaping wew would get through 100s of tonnes a year and it was quite common for a bit of sand or soil to be in the mix. Once it is laid it will soon wash off0
-
OP, how hard have you actually tried to wash the stone? I ordered a couple of ton of stone, albeit different from yours (crushed slate).
When it came it was very dirty and had a few bits mixed in. Rain didn't really cut it. Only thing that did was some time spent with a rake, a stiff brush and a hose pipe. After that it was fine.
Whenever I went out and saw some stones which didn't match I just removed them. Not a big deal. These things come from dirty yards with lots of other types of stone, a little contamination is to be expected.
I agree with others that you are being a little OTT with this assuming it will clean with a little effort. If it doesn't then its a different matter.0 -
If it were a serious matter, then Trading Standards & CMA do get involved. I've emailed CMA, waiting for a response. I'm well versed on what CAB, Trading Standards, CMA all do or do not do.
We spent £450 on the White Spar.
Yes, I get the impression that you're more than familiar with CAB, and them with you.
A £400 bag of stones is not a serious matter. They don't have the resources to help vulnerable people that have been scammed out of thousands, you are not even on their radar.0 -
Getting straight to the point the OP is hoping to keep product and get a full/partial refund
But as most people have pointed out a bit of water and a brush would suffice0 -

My expectations are that the product should not be cross contaminated, the other two bulk bags weren't, although they did contain shale and stones.0 -

This isn't a little effort, 'Only thing that did was some time spent with a rake, a stiff brush and a hose pipe' and if it works.0 -

I'm very familiar with CAB, what the guy told me yesterday was of interest, I called again to confirm some points he raised yesterday.
The person I spoke to said it was logged as an 'in person' complaint, instead of a 'distance' complaint. There is a bit more to this. Yes the days when you could call Trading Standards directly are long gone.0 -
Cool White Spar turns into Green Spar!! lol

You're lol now, but you won't be in 2-3 years time, especially if you think hosing out sand and soil now is too much effort.
