Hi Guys

Retailer saying the White Spar is a natural product so the variation is fine. It's been cross contaminated with another product at their depot, then delivered. Any thoughts?

Agreed it’s just dust/dirt that will wash off easily enough

The thing is that it shouldn't be there. As to whether it will wash away, it's rained and it's still there. Had a bit of a argument with the depot as they failed to deliver on time.

There is also shale and stones in the White Spar.

    I think you are nit-picking.

At £450 worth of White Spar, a premium product, I'm entitled to nit-pick away. This is where the retailer could have avoided some of the issues, the way they have handled the complaint is very, very poor.

4 posters have said the same thing but you still disagree.

    What is your next step?

Have you tried scooping out the dirty bits and hosing them off in a bucket?

You’ve bought a natural product from a builders yard, this is perfectly normal, they don’t come in sealed bags (or they do but only small ones which would cost a fortune to buy enough to equal a tonne bag)

    What is your next step?

    a) Paid by Credit Card, Section 75 claim sent to Credit Card Company.

    b) Lodged complaint with ASA.

    c) Contacted CAB yesterday, very interesting call, told to write to the company stating Consumer Rights Act include arbitration.

    d) If what CAB has told me yesterday is correct, then it's one that Trading Standards or CMA should pursue, for the good of all consumers.

The was the retailers response: 'As this is a natural product there will be a variation in colour and texture of the product. We do not feel that the product that you have provided is of an inferior quality and will not be able to take this complaint further.'

This is not a variation in colour and it is an inferior quality. If I bulked it up with all sorts of rubbish and sold it to consumers, I doubt they would be happy.
