got up.. fed beasts.. trotted off to swimming lessons with 4 girls in tow.. 45 minutes walk with 3 complaining girls because apparently I'm so stupid I'd go the wrong way.. did swimming, Dot was a turd.. got the 3 dried and dressed in 15 minutes.. walked home with all 3 thinking it was a good idea to walk along the low wall outside the student houses despite being told repeatedly not to because one or more would fall... SPLAT went Pixie.. straight on her face, as usual! 2 bloodied grazed knees, a scraped hand and a whopping bruise on her face. Sympathy at zero.

Girls now all in bed snoring and I've sorted several boxes and bags of christmas presents.. OH is done, as are, DS1 & OH, DD1 & OH, DS3, the 4 smalls, 3 grandbeasties.. need a few more bits for Jacob and stocking filler type stuff and books. DS2, DD3, DD4 and DD5 need. I then need to sort my mother, stepdad, 1 sister (other 1 is done), OH's parents.. I can do this right? Off to update my listies!!

Washing all done, pots all clean, laundry folded.. house a bear pit!

I wish more parents were like you, Piggers. I have a low wall and frequently hear splats where parents haven't just ignored their kids walking on it, they've actively encouraged it and been really aggressive about how their darling has the right to do whatever they want.

Himself has taken to playing very loud, very angry metal through an open window at school kicking out time as a result. It seems to be the most effective discouragement - other than the flesh wounds and the careful arrangement of scary skull type ornaments on the window glaring out at them.

Just been back in the kitchen and tidied up the detritus from dinner. Whilst resisting the urge to murder him for leaving stuff out already.

I decided to refer to yesterday as a lazy day rather than a complete failure. I ironed so that the maiden could be in the LR for airing purposes, as still have no heating/ hot water. What was ironed had been optimistically pegged out and had mostly dried in the wind.
I stripped and remade my bed, to. I had planned to clean BR and kitchen.
Anyway WM on load 2. DW has been on and I would like to introduce the newest member of the White Goods trio, returning after a long break, the TD.

Today I'm going to the opening of my neice's cafe. Before I go I plan to deal with the kitchen before some gets food poisoning or vermin take up residence.

You may have noticed the time. *sigh*

And I'm going to write my holiday Toots list...I can't keep having CBA days.

Still, given I had a nap yesterday afternoon...

Roudtuit hope your Mum is OK.

Thank you YL. Mum was up, dressed and doing her word puzzles when I got there yesterday. She's fine in between her 'funny do's' - been going on a while: first they thought it was an ear infection, then panic attacks, then seizures, but this time the left side of her face definitely dropped indicating a TIA. She's fine in between, but I have noticed that the 'episodes' are getting more frequent. Heyho - one day at a time; I'll go round later and see how they're doing.

We now have the rain, which sportingly held off yesterday and let me get my washing dry outside. Sum total today so far is: I'm up and dressed, bed's made. I've had a glass of water while the kettle boiled for my cuppa, and I've rinsed out cans and drinks bottles which I retrieved from DS's room yesterday. But I haven't been up an hour yet, so that's not too bad, I guess.

    Have a happy Sunday :)

  • Awake at 10am.

Transferred the bathroom radio downstairs to the top of the freezer so The Archers could be listened to. I think I might leave it there and just use my phone as a radio when in the bath.

    Yet another washload on.

Fluffed the throw and cushions up on the sofa. Idiot Cat wrangling compulsory - he really doesn't like moving, his preferred position is leaning against my side, half on my legs.

Looked in the fridge for breakfast. Closed the fridge again. He hasn't bought anything useful again.

I think I might take him up a super strong coffee, as there's still not a single sign of life up there.

    Jobs for today;

Himself to remove all cans, bottles and packets of snacks/drinks from the spare room. The sentient creature evolving in the pot noodle remains to be taken out and either released into the wild or given a decent burial.

Radical repurposing of vacuum cleaner from Prosaic Sculptural Installation Exemplifying Notions Of Transience of Existence And Impermanence/Trip Hazard to Thing Meant For Getting Cat Fluff Off The Stairs And Landing.

    More washing, drying, etc, etc.

    Food and associated washing up.

His four pairs of shoes off the living room floor.

I would also like to make some bird cake.

  • Hi all

One load of washing almost dried outside - which is miraculous considering it has been raining on and off all morning. The other load (mainly my work stuff) is over the airer in my office with the dehumidifier going.

I have bought two big drawstring cloth laundry bags so I can put all the teenagers clean laundry in them and dump them in their rooms. Very pleased with this idea. I am achieving my goal of doing less for the boys up to now.

A little bit of ironing to do. DH is fitting new interior doors upstairs. Our house is old and all the door frames are wonky so we did think about getting a man in but when we got a quote DH nearly had heart failure so he is doing it himself. One door done, 4 to go. There is sawdust everywhere but I am not complaining. DS is helping which allows me to stay out of the way.

Going to check my online banking and I should really do a mealplan for next week.

four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie?? nom...

Food scoffed.. girls being 'special' so I am to command some order to our chaos.. I just need to decide where to start.. and I have 2 of those installations Jojo.. a pink one in here and a red one on the landing.. right in the way..

TD on, DW on, WM x2, pile of heavy stuff to go out in the wild wind.. I folded it to go on the airer but the rain bugled off so it can go on the line.

I need to purchase a large tarp to go over the shed roof as a 'temporary' (read 25 year) solution to a leaky roof. number 1 purchase after chrsitmas is a new shed that is leakproof and durable.. ours are dead!

  • More washing up done, including rewashing the mugs apparently waved in the general direction of the sink instead of introducing them to hot water, washing up liquid and a scrubby sponge, and things that had been put into the non functioning dishwasher for no useful reason. I must get around to booking the council to come and take the damn thing away (£20), but that involves effort on my part in disconnecting and fully draining it, as I have the sneaking suspicion that delegation would lead to the kitchen floor ending up under about three inches of water and a plaintive wail of 'you didn't give me instructions'. If finances were better, I'd just order a new one and pay for somebody to do the straight swap, but not right now - it will simply have to end up with the traditional length of fabric covering the space/hiding the Idiot Cat when he's in the mood for stalking feet and Grumpy Fluffy Cat.

    Another load in WM.

    Coffee taken upstairs at 1pm.

Downstairs loo scrubbed and cleaning spray currently soaking into sink.

Small fluffy chick found (presumably from an Easter project circa. 2015) and flung on bed, quickly followed by excitable Idiot Cat. Next time I'll throw it on his head.

I used to get that a lot when I lived in Aylesbury; I was able to garden then, and kept the front really nice; so I'd have been livid at a small child falling into the garden. Plus, technically they'd have been trespassing.......
